Topic: Prestiging Vans Posted: 07 May 2013 at 16:56 |
What is going on with prestiging vans? I've submitted a petition days ago (still unacknowledged) and I'm more than just annoyed. I've sent vans to H members, they have immediately prestiged the vans in but the vans do not immediately return, in fact, in some cases they takes days to return to my cities. We're pay money for prestige, using it to speed up vans and the system is not giving us our money's worth.
This is a big problem, it needs to be addressed and fixed.
Is anyone working on petitions? I have another biggie on Aradil that has not been acknowledged, it's a problem, also costing prestige to offset the Sov glitch.
Don't start messing with people's money, if we spend money on the game, make sure the system works.
I'm not sure why we are experiencing new bugs on a system that was working just fine but the bugs are becoming very tedious and worrisome.

Prestige can't be used to immediatly return caravans. It just doubles their speed. If you use it a lot, they might go very fast, but they will be taking time. I don't believe it is intended to impact the return trip either.

Not true unless they changed it (if so, where is the announcement?), to the extent you speed up the vans to their destination, they have always taken the same time to return plus the time it took for the receiving member to start prestiging.
The system is inconsistent, prestiged vans are returning partially sped up, not sped up at all or immediately.

Player A sends vans to Player B. Either A or B (or both) can use prestige to speed the vans to B. However, only Player A can use prestige to speed them back. I haven't seen any change in this, and I've used the feature over the last couple of days.

There was a change to this some months ago, I don't recall whether it was announced or not, but if the RECEIVER prestiges the caravans, it only works on the incoming trip and doesn't speed up the trip home. I can't recall whether it's always been that way for prestiged incoming vans -- I seem to recall that it is something that changed after they introduced that feature, but it's been that way for at least several months. (Being able to prestige incoming vans is a feature that was added in the past year or so, previously you could only prestige your own caravans.)

As Starry noted, it is inconsistent, when the prestiged vans sometimes return more quickly as well. I haven't figured out when this occurs, I think it might relate to when the vans are prestiged (whether early in their travel time or later.)
In some ways it sort of makes sense purely from the perspective of stabilizing income for the developers, since prestiging incoming vans affects shipments from multiple cities or players that otherwise would have to be prestiged for each city, and therefore is a lot more cost effective.
It also could add a wrinkle to prestige building during sieges, since your supplies would take more time to get their vans back.
I don't have an opinion about how this should work, since I see arguments for both sides. But I do think it would be good to get a description of how it does work, particularly if there is a window to prestige vans both ways. (Although this might also just be a bug.)

It's always worked both ways for me, if there was a change we should have been notified. We are paying for a feature that is not working correctly.

When it comes to cash money, the details, rules-how it works need to be spelled out, very specifically. Lacking this will cause players to loose faith in the system. As they say, money talks...etc. etc.

I've had few problems using it in the manner that vans are prestige in both directions. I do believe there are some inconsistency that I see but overall little effect.
It appears clearly that Starry has a significant disadvantage compared to me in regards to this. Anything that gives one player an advantage or disadvantage over another due to a glitch should be corrected.
Also i've seen vans speed up both ways for months. I've not heard of an update nor seen any change in this for at least 6 months.

I've seen some other weird effects recently. Vans I was sure had 30mins to go suddenly delivered and gone etc.
