ok, I have the Blackberry Playbook, and although its possible to play illyriad on it, its not easy.

This led me to have a think about possible solutions to this conundrum.

My first thought was, "what do i actually do, when playing the game on my BBPB? most of it is chatting in AC & GC, and upgrading my res, buildings and armies, very rarely do i do anything out on the map or that is integral to the actual game play.

so what's the answer, firstly it was buy a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but thats VERY expensive.
second was, why not suggest a text version of the game allowing key elements to be accessed easily on a portable device.

For example:

rather than the graphical interface, have a list of the buildings or resource spots in ones town.
Then next to that you have the option to upgrade, or in specific circumstances (i.e. spearmaker) build (spears).

I should make this clear, this idea is not designed to replace Illyriad, but to allow people the option of using a text based sollution on their portable device when out and about, just to keep a hand in on their settlements.

again... only an idea, what do we think?

I already suggested this a few months back but got no response nor support for the idea.

My idea was to reduce the amount of things that loaded (unnecessary images etc) whilst playing on a phone (ie, over 3G or anything as slow) in order to speed the game up.  The same applies for tablets, although tablets can usually run more than phones, it's still really slow (my Asus Transformer doesn't like it too much).

This would, of course, be able to be set in options on a 'mobile' version of the site.

I like it but as I say, it got little interest.

I suspect the devs would need to redesign their existing web infrastructure to de-couple the interface from "middle tier" logic before simultaneously supporting different interfaces for different platforms.  If they accomplish that, they could to much further and start producing or possibly even allowing 3rd parties to produce native game client apps.

But as you say, I see little indication of any developer interest.  They really banked on open standards allowing them to have "one platform to rule them all" however impractical that may sometimes be.

im using a Asus Transformers Prime, and there is NO problem, i even use the map as i want, sending caravans and looking around, i have to use the compass to move tho but thats acceptable.

So for the conclusion, your tablet isnt good enough to handle Illy :) ofcourse they could make it less draining on performance by adding a Lite version to be used as wanted, adding a link on the home page, if you got a bad connection or such, maybe just adding a old interface since they are often less draining.

I use Xoom and i find that those things is not working properly:
1) The chat is quite unusable because when you zoom the chat windpw slide away
2) The mail is not working anymore after the UI upgrade, it display an unformatted HTML code when you write and the mail is not sent.

So everything is working but i can't communicate in anyway when using android tablet or phone.

I use on both ICS and Chrome as browser.
