Honor to answer same questions?  Honored to be considered so wonderful they want you to be cookie cutter?  Really?  That is not anyone that has participated yet.  These are amazing individuals in their own right.  They do not deserve to be made cookie cutter.  I have never nominated anyone because I don't want them to be cookie cutter.  I want them to be their amazing unique selves!  That is what they deserve and how being truly in the "Spotlight" should be.  That is honor and something I would be happy to nominate people for.

The spotlight is not a medal nor a prize ... it is of course an honor for someone to be deemed interesting enough for the community to want to know more about that player, but this is not the important thing at least for all the people that nominated said player.

Those people took their time to nominate someone and it is reasonable that they want a result and a good one at that ... and this is far from "just gravy" imho.

The proposition that along with the nomination, someone should attach a question that he would have liked to see on the table, is the best atm both time-wise and in the matter of keeping the whole thing interesting. Smile

Just like a "before and after" ad ! ahahahaah :p

But the problem with having a vote on the forums is that the player wouldn't be surprised about their unique question list.  The Spotlighters could just be a panel of 3 and they would be the ones that know the player best.  Say they get to pick 2 or 3 questions/stories each.  Then Rikoo could narrow it down from there.  Some will pick the same questions so that would eliminate some headache.  Just thoughts.

Maybe those that nominate should nominate with a story about the player or a question they would like answered by the player.  It would have to be kept clean and the # of questions should be limited to a certain amount.  Then have a panel (maybe previous Spotlight Winners) vote privately on the best questions/stories they would like included in that players questionnaire. (Luvs - idk how to quote on this jimmer)

Anyway, yes, that is a great idea, having players come up with questions. A++ gold star. The panel thing might be tough to organize, though. Might be easier to do a poll on the forums or just have Rikoo pick the most commonly asked / best questions.

+1 to all the ideas!  Come on we can make this far more interesting than it is currently.  My answers to the questions that are used would be more of the broken record and some don't want to be apart of something like that.  I think that is why it got so hard for Luna to keep it going.  It also makes it hard for people to nominate players because it is cookie cutter.  It is also why you get no's from some players the community would like to see participate.

I keep getting people saying they would like to see me participate.  As long as it is stale and over done as it is, I won't.  To me it is no longer an honor to be singled out if you are going to be singled out just like every other person that has had the spotlight put on them.

Then the player that is nominated gets a surprise on what they get to reminisce about or answer.  You will get feed back from the peers if they know it is something that player will be embarrassed about or keep runner up questions in reserve if they come across something they don't want to discuss.  I know a lot of these Spotlighters are upstanding amazing individuals and they would not try to sabotage anyone else's experience in this program.  They would have to be ones that know the player well and can weed out craziness or embarrassment.

Just an idea to help with the craziness, but it would make it much more interesting.  I honestly right now, just do a cursory check of the answers now because the answers are basically all the same.  I don't really learn anything new about anyone.  It isn't unique to the player and it should be. That is what being in the Spotlight is all about or in my book should be.
