You can't ask for pirates without ninjas. Please edit the original post to rectify this travesty.

Sorry, I should clarify that my post related to the whole expanding kingdoms etc., etc. The one that first comes to mind is tribal wars.

The most dynamic idea I am hinting at is that alliances could be achievement based, the player who proves himself worthy by military social economic deed absorbs land and players ranging out from his fog of war. This status and authority would have to be taken by force and influence. Clans form, then city states then kingdoms and empires along a more natural line. |
This would not be a game I personally would be interested in playing. I think there are already enough games like this out there.

Any fundamental changes along these lines would need to be taken sooner rather than later as they come at the growing cost of all the effort players have invested along the lines of Illy reality as it currently is.

No, I am not. We need pirate ships, navies, and the map needs to be redrawn which would probably be too much trouble, for lakes and rivers to more naturally flow into seas and oceans, and have much more strategic depth in regards to political economic and military control of waterways and sealanes, as we do on dry land.
We also need more land, alliances need to be segregated as countries and kingdoms etc. and we need territorial boundaries similar to civ 3.
Who's the dumbass?
