That's what really marks a veteran...a proven willingness to take real risk and fight in real battles.  Veterans have stood for something (even if it merely be their own survival) and have either conquered or died for it.  Their risk was real because they had at least a year's active account development riding on the outcome of their conflicts.  They measure loss in cities, not troops or resources.  They enter wars thinking mere months of rebuilding would be a lucky outcome.  They spat in the eyes of their enemies once, and stand ready to do it again any time.

willingness to risk everything, standing up and fighting for his survival, losses in cities, spitting in the eyes of his enemies, standing ready to do it again.. looks like a description of StJude to me :O

Mmm I'd classify a vet as someone who believes themselves a vet; and a newbie as someone who admits they are still a newbie. A troll is a newbie who doesn't know that he/she is a newbie. An in-between between a vet and a newbie is a player :D

I seem to remember a Valar player adopting that approach... I can't quite remember, but I don't seem to remember it being too good for his health?  ;)
