Inspiration for new players, a message from Severus Snape: It will get better. We shall never surrender and like a Horcrux.

I should also add (I gave it as a christmas present to myself) that if you're looking for Epic.. the John Williams 40 yrs retrospective is stunning...
For those that don't know him, he's the guy who wrote the theme for Jaws. Oh, and Indiana Jones. And Schindler's List. And Saving Private Ryan. And Superman. And Harry Potter. And Star Wars. And.. and.. and... I still live in awe of his output, and if you're looking for pure talent in modern thematic motifs, I think he's unbeatable. There are a few select others, notably John Barry of James Bond, Zulu, Midnight Cowboy, Raise the Titanic, Out of Africa fame; and Danny Elfman of everything from The Simpsons to Batman, from Good Will Hunting to Men In Black... who are well worth a look for modern epic scores! The saddest thing is that I, too, was rickrolled. And after TC had posted as well, simply because I was too lazy to look further down the thread. ![]() But much kudos from me to Rill for Ennio Morricone (though I think this link is a much better example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oag1Dfa1e_E ), Grego for Carl Orff, and practically anything with Charlotte Church being ethereal and otherworldly (Gandalf's "death" after the Mines of Moria springs to mind instantly) gets a big thumbs up from me! SC EDIT: Discovered the LOTR link above wasn't CC, but Mabel Faletolu singing instead, apologies! CC does sing on the Arwen motif though. Edited by GM Stormcrow - 04 Jan 2012 at 05:51 |
