A moderate amount of prestige could speed up a caravan to accomplish the same thing. Since one can claim one free prestige point every day, even a non-paying player could use this option. For this reason, it seems sort of unnecessary to add carrying capacity to messengers.
The one difference would be that a messenger theoretically would not be caught by a blockade and thus could get a small resupply (such as a book to reset a rune) in safely. Personally I don't think this would make a significant difference in gameplay (assuming the carrying capacity was very limited), and thus would still not be worth the effort of the developers to implement. Just my two cents.

i think messengers are not made to shift stone ,clay etc between towns . but a T2 messenger can give orders to your army occupying a sq from one town to reinforce any other town of yours.

Another idea just came to me as I ready a messenger to send at Archibald (inside GC joke from today)... What if the messenger could be given a small carrying capacity? Or a T2 messenger (requiring a third horse to create) with this capacity?
It would be a nice alternative to moving resources quickly. My initial thought would be a limit of 50 to 100.

It's a good idea, and something I felt was missing from the game, too. But I feel like spies could do with this boost to encourage diplo diversification; I'd argue that scouts are by far the most valuable and frequently used diplomat for both PvP and PvE concerns. Anything that makes them even stronger should be evaluated carefully.

Dear Illy community, Devs, and the magnanimousless Rikoo...
Scouts currently report on military strengths... As far as I know there is no way to get diplo numbers for a targeted city. What if...
No new diplos are being introduced here... just more options for scouts making their mission very specific and more successful scouting attacks would be necessary to get the full picture of the military and diplo defensive capacities of a city. I toss the idea, you refine it to help it stick... \/\/artow |
