Hi col005,

Crafting is on the Current Dev List.  It's definitely something we want to do; initially it will be commander-equipable items only, but at a later stage we might look at general troop equipment as well.

In terms of racial balance it would be hard to implement and yes i guess it could become really confusing if some troops are normal, some have armour and some have weapons.
However if the creation of master crafted weapons was shown as a +1 increas in that item and a master point in that item then perhaps points could be spent on armies rather than in the creation of the troops.
Each unit will increase the master point capacity of an army by its production cost. Eg An army of 100 pikemen will have a capacity of 200 master spears, 100 master leather armour and 100 master chainmail points wich will increase the attack by a maximum of 200 points and defence by 200 points.
In terms of loosing these points from casulties the chance of loosing an item would be a function of (no. of points in army)/(the maximum capacity of the army for those points)and the check would be done (the no. of points the slain units could have used) times

I've been thinking the same thing would be cool. But it would be hard to implement, I think.

I know that there is going to be a major shakeup to trading in the next month but I thought of an option that would certainly increase trading between the races.

It'd be cool if once certain weapon or armour producing bilding reached say level 15 the option to produce master crafted items became available, this would provide an incentive for players to try to specialise in a particulary type of production, thereby increasing trade.
The two options I thought of in building these weapons were:
These items take extra time, and resources to build, however certain races ALWAYS build these master items at no extra cost. E.g. once the building reaches the required level elves will always produce master bows and dwarves will always produce master chainmail etc.
The other options is that certain races are the ONLY ones able to produce these master items. Eg humans are the ONLY ones able to breed throughbred horses.
These master items would give troops and diplomatic units a small but significant bonus, Horses + 1speed, Spears +1 attack, chainmail + 1 defence in units top 2 defence stats.
