Some would die.  But wouldn't that put pressure to get a hub trader?  If people really needed a local market and didn't have one then why wouldn't they create it?

Currently it's a lot easier to use the black market than to take a chance on the local markets.  But that's speaking as someone who doesn't depend on trade for anything, so I might be the best example of an active trader.
