I'm not calling NC a villain by any stretch, and I'm not advocating for either side. I'm suggesting that if everyone is of the mentality that disruptions to the social norms should be met with utter annihilation, eventually there will be no dissenters remaining, and no conflict, at which point Military combat may as well be removed from the game.
So I'm suggesting that whichever side you are on in this conflict, the goal should not be to siege the enemy out of the game. Rather look at it like a thorned plant in your yard. Although dangerous, it also brings a vibrant color to the scene. When it grows too wild and becomes a hazard, do not yank it out, but rather trim it back, that it may grow back and continue to color your yard.

This!
And Brids, so far as I know, no one is attacking NC, not even STEEL, which certainly has abundant reason to.

Edit: Realized this post was perhaps confrontational and argumentative and am thus removing it.

Are Rill and JDM actually supporting Mananan or is it acceptable to stand on principle on the sidelines only?
For if you do adhere to your words, then stopping at that makes you both little better than the champagne socialists whom bereave the plight of the poor whilst sleeping in french linen. Do you believe such, or was this more to ease your conscience in order for a good nights sleep?
If its the latter then know your future opinions will be held with little weight.

I've had troops involved for almost a week now. So I'm not sure who you are calling of little weight. I'm lots of weight, thank you very much.

Does this mean you won't be attacking Mana? Because if that's the case, I'm sure my armies can be better used elsewhere. |
We have no grievance with Mana. I would suggest moving your troops to reinforce Gim if you intend them to be used.
Yes, this is a tactically stupid message, if we were warmongers as we've been portrayed by the soapbox minority, we would have launched feints/attacks/sieges on Mana as soon as he declared on us, to keep at least some portion of his army (and others, apparently) tied up under the threat of military action. It would have been tactically sound to send diplos at him as well to keep him from reinforcing STEEL in that manner as well.
But, we're not warmongers, we've stated our position from the beginning and have not strayed from it. We have no issue with Mana, if he chooses to reinforce Gim that's his prerogative. Since he has declared war on us, should he choose to send attacks in our direction then we might have some future issue with him, but we're kind of preoccupied at the moment.

So...What is NC's goal? Just to smash up some troops and maybe destroy a town or 2? |
Sounds like a good goal. To diverge more specifics at the current moment would be tactically unsound with siege engines moving and who knows which of them are real and which of them are feints or if they're all real or all feints. We are not in this to siege Gim out of the game though, and our actions will not exceed your stake in the ground estimate.
The stated reason for NC's war is that Gim annoys them. How does smashing troops and a town or 2 prevent Gim from continuing to annoy other people? |
It doesn't. But maybe he'll realize that actions have consequences. Or maybe he won't, in which case this will all have been for nothing, but at least we tried.
Which means that NC has started a war that offers NC no strategic gain. |
Agreed, there's no strategic gain. In fact it's just a huge cost. But some things are worth it not because of what you gain, but because of what your actions say. And in this case, we are saying that actions have consequences. We are also saying that we feel people should be allowed to handle their grievances on their terms.
