thank you all for your kind words and advice. Well taken. I am currently with Toothless?, an outstanding training alliance, which I would recommend to ALL NEW PLAYERS. If I cannot stay there to help and repay the favors they have given me, I will probably 'graduate' to Harmless?[H?], and help them wherever I can. again, thx !

Broadly speaking, there are two kinds of playing styles: military, and trading/crafting/harvesting.
Harvesting = collecting raw materials herbs, minerals and anatomies. Crafting = making stuff Trading = selling what you make, or just buying and selling. Decide on what you think your playing style might be and choose an alliance accordingly. US players in your alliance would allow you to communicate without the time zone thing getting in the way. This game has a world wide coverage of players even though it is "small". It attracts a certain type of gamer because it is very complicated and no one person can know everything. This is its appeal.
