I believe they are the same as standing stones, and abandoned mills and such. It is an area where harvest able resources and npc's spawn. 

I also believe they have a better sov bonus for one of the four basic resources.

Hello all,
I've just come across two sites that are near to my capital (1) A forgotten temple and (2) A abandoned  campsite. I was wondering what do they mean?
