At the moment, you may have trouble seeing the lines on IE. Try clicking on the map and they should show up (or at least do for me)...

At the moment it shows the military control of the square as a dotted coloured line:

 (Neutral)
 (At War)
 (In Truce)
 (At Peace)
 (In NAP)
 (In your Powerbloc)
 (In your Wing)
 (War pending)

This will be jiggled about with in the Alliance update
