Topic: In the community garden... Posted: 31 May 2011 at 18:50 |

Hey all, just an observation and a community encouragement to all the veterans out there...
Having a good community is sort of like tending a garden (and no, I have not been smoking anything illegal). You nurse the young sprouts lest they wither and die, much alike how you help and show an interest to the new players that come and try to find their place in the Illyriad community, lest they give up ever forming personal ties within the game.
Some do turn out to be thistles *coughLHcough*, but by far the majority are decent trustworthy people who joined the community for the very same reason you yourself took up the game, back in the day.
Lately I have experienced an "energizing" of the community, simply by taking the time to share the resources that were molding away in my stores, regardless of their choice of alliance or distance from my towns. Not only have I receieved much gratitude and kindness, but the gereral mood in GC seems to have lifted noticalby.
No doubt will I continue this practice in the future, but I meet limitations in terms of caravan count and time (Im trying to hold down a full time job and it doesnt come easy for me).
So I would like to encourage all vets to seek out the newbies proactively and share generously as small amounts of resources will make a big difference to those who have none/very few. My meddling may have caused some alliance leaders to shake their fists at me from behind their screens as they might fear I was trying to highjack their members, and although this is not the case I am happy to see that they now actively seek to "Overbid" me in terms of newbie help. If you want alliance members their welfare ingame should be active ona day to day basis, not passive awaiting a possible war to break out at some undefined point in the future, and sadly this has been the rule in some cases previously. So if you have the stuff and youre not going to miss it, donate it and make someones game that much more enjoyable!
I believe this is to the benefit of the community and every single one of us, so please help me help more newbies out guys.
Anyway, cheerio and thanks for reading.

I'd see a doctor about that... sounds nasty!
On a serious note I try to do what I can for the new guys. Either in the form of small care-a-van packages or help and advice in GC or on the forums.
Like you say if we don't take care of the community it will be invaded by trolls and that is the last thing anyone who has been playing the game for a while should want.

As a noobie, the sole reason I stayed was the community. On my first day, I just said hello and my warehouses were blown up. This game is much more than a PBG, it's almost like a small community, and we lucked out with kind, generous people. Its the first war game I've played where war wasn't the focus. Anyway, its people like you that make the game what it is, and we noobs appreciate it. :)

I completely agree with your points and applaud your efforts!
We at H? support this mentality 100%.
While we all have time constraints, I think the community will continue to find H? members going out of their way to help out new players with resources and advice when we are on.

...and if you will believe that. Then you will believe anything.
If you get care package from H? or T? then you are about to enter a world of control, deceit and domination. Some have managed to leave relatively unscathed, but that was only because they were very popular players in global chat and H? did not want the truth to come out. Others have not been so lucky.

You boldly lie. And the sheer stupidity of the lie is to try to make one that is so easily disproved. T? has supported more new players in this game than most probably ANY other organization and for you to try to dispute that is laughable. And H? has helped many, many new players in the past and continues to, without asking or demanding anything in return. Return to your troll hole and come up with something even mildly plausible.

Aneirin, if you dislike Harmless? so much go make a bitter sea thread about it. Don't spam other topics that had nothing to do with your personal thoughts and or fanatical beliefs. Thank you.
