I'l clarify what i said as there seems to be some misunderstanding

T? and T2 are training alliances, and we wish to be able to help train people (specifically new players) in all aspects of the game, and to better do this myself, firinne and LOL (firinne and LOL being management) moved to a faction HUB, this would allow us more opportunities to learn about them, and therefore be better able to help players understand them.

By 'Under the protection of' I meant Hostile action against that HUB, would be recieved as hostile actions against us.
My understanding of it is that We (T?, and T2) are protecting Turyin, and that WOTP, are protecting the other Turyn HUB. I have no specific knowledge of thier intentions for that HUB.

@ Crank and Rugre
Yes we stand to gain alot by controling the HUB... but we will, no doubt, be just a few among the many that will trade there, my comment of 'controling' was merely a reference to us being in control of the surrounding territory and not in any way a declaration of exlusive ownership.

@Rugre specifically.
No, we wont be notified, but there are more than ways than one to tell if something has been attacked.

Also Trullalla, i've sent you a reply, to your PM here and in-game. The ingame reply was for the invitation, T? is the place more suited to new players, T2 is for slightly older players. Also could you clarify whether or not you've moved your city yet?

Hope that clears it up

It is clearer now, sorry for dragging this one but i definetly feel I caught an important conversation at half time, so I am still catching up

So factions are NPC. hubs are centers of trade. based on relation of faction with race, you can be better or worst off with each faction. If you are closer and have good relations, you'll be able to get benefits, ranging from good deals to military cooperation

don't like it, and will try to have as little to do with it as possible.

@ Fateful: very clear. just wish all these claims and protection were in some place accessible to users before they decide to have an hostile action toward a faction / hub

Thats the gist of it yes,
Theres more to it then that, and those changes haven't been, or wont be implemented for a while yet... You'll want to talk to somebody with more info then I, Crank may know more about the upcoming crafting then i do.

As to the trade goods and military Co-operation, my understanding is, well nil... which is why I'm at a HUB, so i can find out.

And Rugre--

Your standing with the Faction will be based upon a number of criteria, your race, your personal standing with the faction (result of any actions you have taken in the past with that faction) and your alliance standing with that faction (result of actions anyone in the alliance has taken with that faction in the past). If you are interested in Trade, I would definitely encourage you to drop a city near one of the hubs and get involved in it!

Thanks Gryphon

not really interested in trade. strongly against moving cities feature. like a typical dwarf, will rather dig in further into the mountain instead of having further interactionor socialization with others :-)

but will consider founding a village near a hub, if circumstance and local environment permit

the 2 big question that remains for me are: can a faction be wiped out? can a hub be razed to the ground? ... actulally 3 ... will a faction engage other factions in war of their own initiative? ... make it 4 Tongue ... if yes, will they dislike you further if you have good relations with other faction?

Hubs are invulnerable AFAIK.  And yes - once the AI is up factions will attack people who sufficiently annoy them and yes your relationship with a faction is also determined by your relationship with their friends/enemies.

Also - I don't believe there is such a thing as "controlling" a faction hub.  You can gain advantages by being close to a hub and by trading with them plus killing their enemies but you can't "control" a faction AI or their hubs.
