I reign in Norweld and am human. I would be interested in joining such an effort. However, how would decisions be binding? Alliance agreement? Party Agreement (Binding arbitration set up?) I would not wish to have such an endeavor be a toothless feline.

I hope that more Alliances will join in, it will be a peaceful way to settle disagreements between alliances. Imagine what this could mean, as more alliances join we will see different ideas on how to play the game coming together to achieve some common ends. With the caliber of people in Elgea, I expect many ways to improve the world by working together could be drawn up in the High Court.

Even if you aren't in Norweld, if you want an outlet of diplomacy to handle disputes, please come forth and we will establish a strong system for the good of all alliances. This is an outlet to provide open covenants of peace, openly arrived at. Perhaps this can lead to a "general association" of Alliances to work together in Elgea "for the purpose of affording mutual guarantees of political independence and territorial integrity to great and small states [alliances] alike.".

[QUOTE=Meagh]No Dwarf on a high court in Norweld... has our stature shrunk so far in our own homeland that we now appeal to Orcs and Humans?

The Dwarves in CK are very much respected and loved. I generally keep quiet about original homelands as our Elven members would have a very different idea on that point and the intricacies involved lead the discussion long beyond my alcohol tolerance (so I've never actually heard the concluding arguments about that). Nothing stopping a dwarf being appointed to the High Court, I'm sure they'll be resourceful enough to sit on the High Chair.

Really though, all alliances in Norweld are invited to be involved in this - bilateral agreements for the time being for cases as they occur (and hopefully they will be few) but perhaps leading to having an Appeal Court from multiple alliances to reinforce future developments.

OOC: glad you make your diplomacy plain. If it is not then please post it on your alliance profile or something as most are probably like me and will forget this notification shortly. (pun pun pun?) :P

From continuing cordial discussions between Celtic Knights and Roman Empire, I am pleased to announce the foundation of the High Court of Norweld which will be responsible for judgement over any disputes that may arise between our members in any matter whatsoever (settlement, diplo attacks, trade, harvesting, bad messages etc etc etc). The role of the judges is to identify substantive issues brought before them, and to issue verdicts based on standard Illy practice and good policy outcomes (in the judges' opinions) and the precedents set by previous judgements. The aim is to grow a body of law in our part of Elgea, with only irreconcilable differences between judges on particular issues to become a diplomatic issue to be decided between leaderships.

Cases brought by third parties (individual accounts, not alliances) will be accepted at the judges' discretion and any alliances with an interest in Norweld are invited to participate in growing the Court's jurisdiction. There is a wall of text available describing the workings if anyone wants to send an IGM.

The foundation judges are Lachit and Ugrik the insane - problems with a CK member should be made as a full case to Ugrik, any with an RE member to Lachit with short advisement to be made to the other judge.
