one thing to add to this, with the current advice being given in global, there is likly to be a tot of bumps, yes its easy to spot rez to harvest, if you deselect everything from the map, but if you deselect encampments you dont actually see other vans already harvesting, although if ya pay attention to pop up window it will notify you....but be aware many might accidently bump ya because of the advice given.....but like shanks says ...dont worry about bumps, its not a big issue

Torden, I got your point. I stopped harvesting even when my production rate hit 200, i was using my few caravans to trade in the market and didnt have any to spare for harvesting. But early on in the game it is very helpful - 300 X 10 basic resource (with level 5 market) with just 10 clicks before you go to bed ;)
yes, bumping is a non issue. I dont know why someone would be so bothered about it.

This (by the way) is also a good reason to join an existing alliance when you start out, get the help you need to get started, and then decide where your future lies.

Well the point is to build up your own mines yeah? Once they reach level 10 or there abouts your hourly income dwarfs the miniscule loads your caravans can carry and already there it becomes rather redundant (maybe with the exception of gold harvesting, not sure). Besides - looking over the thread I was to understand that bumping was a big problem for new players It was hard to avoid back when I started, and the recent surge in Illyriad members has probably not diminished this. So - you dont need to ask for much - upping your storehouse first and then doing mines is just as fast as sending mules all over Illy. 100 basic resources for what...1,5-3 hours of work is...enthusiastic if nothing else.

I really dont understand why harvesting is so popular, each one caravan on new player level can only carry 100 resources - Its nothing compared to what bigger players can send you. Ask and in most cases you shall recieve, quit wasting time on insignificant scraps.

when you are lacking just 130 clay to build the next level of a building, harvesting is the fastest way to get it. And 10 caravans bringing in 300 resources each every night is enough to have a newbie queue running.
I have always been *extremely* happy when bigger players sent me resources, but I never asked for any myself. If you always ask for resources when you need it, then where is the part in playing your own game?
