Yes there are quite a lot of squares. Zoom your world map to the maximum zoom available, if no white circles pop up then start going any direction on the map. If you see purple circles take note of their location, npc's and harvest-able resources can pop up in the same area.

Thank you; great explanation. My resource-rich existence starts now. I sing you an Elven hymn of gratitude. Ketla

You new guys really need to get used to having your vans bumped.. **it happens! Don't need to use it as a polite way to ask for resources.. just go ahead and ask!

try not to send your caravans too far out from the city you are sending them out from, it will suck to send them out hr or 2 away only to be bumped off after a few minutes of gathering.

Distance to send caravans is really variable and depends on the circumstances.
1. An hour or less b4 next respawn and your going to be online at that time wait and send after respawn.
2. Its just been a respawn and you have a just a few caravans available or a low market level within an hour is nice if possible to go a small distance. Otherwise you might have to go out further from your city.
3. You have a lot of caravans go out as far as you want so what if you get bumped it could be you bumping someone else better they are out and possibly harvesting then doing nothing.
4. To find resources quickly and easy - under stratgic/tactial is options button. Click options. In the graphics tab turn off everything but encampments and resources. The white circles jump out at you now. Someone said the map is boring this way so what find the resources send the caravans out then turn everything back on.
5. Bedtime or your going to be out of town or something that your going to be offline for several hours or longer. Send those caravans out as far as you want. Any resource is better than no resources. Send 2 or 3 or 4 depending on what you think about multiple caravans. If i know im going to be off for 12 hrs i will send 3 at everything but gold for up to 3 or 4 hrs out. For gold nodes i send out 4.
6. Try different things see what suits you. No one approach is best or works for everyones. Location of your cities and the amount of neighbors makes a difference. The one thing that doesnt work imo is letting them sit in your city doing nothing because there is not a node in close range especially right after a respawn cause it is gonna stay way for 6 hours at least.

I really dont understand why harvesting is so popular, each one caravan on new player level can only carry 100 resources - Its nothing compared to what bigger players can send you. Ask and in most cases you shall recieve, quit wasting time on insignificant scraps.

when you are lacking just 130 clay to build the next level of a building, harvesting is the fastest way to get it. And 10 caravans bringing in 300 resources each every night is enough to have a newbie queue running.
I have always been *extremely* happy when bigger players sent me resources, but I never asked for any myself. If you always ask for resources when you need it, then where is the part in playing your own game?
