H? and VALAR: who is mightier and who is right?

By we I mean the parties that are commenting on this that are neither in H? or Valar

That number would be 0, then.  Right?

 

That BTW was not some not-so-clever Harmless bumping ploy.

 

As I see it, there are a number of sides to this- not just the two- well, one- mentioned by Lord Bliss.

 

Side 1: Harmless, who want compensation for losses from the siege belonging to Malpherion. Side note- Rill, who lost those troops- KP or Malpherion? Harmless are getting a fair bit of bashing, because in my opinion they made two mistakes: Firstly, on the behalf of Malpherion, of not politely sorting out the issue at the time of the infringement instead of waiting until now, and secondly of the act of not asking permission- it's just a common courtesy, really.

 

Side 2: Valar, who refuse to give compensation to Harmless and think that they are the wounded party in that Malpherion hit first. THey made several mistakes: Posting the articles from the embassy, which is impolite in the extreme plus is a betrayal of trust; not scouting or sending a bigger army; or for trying to sort out the issue with Malpherion as soon as the siege was first discovereed without hitting immediately.

 

Side 3:Rill and supporters (Kurdruk and others) who are trying to defend Valar and are accusing Harmless of being unfair. They made mistakes also: Rill for attempting to mediate forcefully, for being a bit obnoxious with your Harmless demands (I said it, my opinion so don't knock) and also for stretching out the thread and KILLING MY EYES.

 

Side 4: PirateKing and others who haven't really taken a side. So you guys are the side without a side but are trying to defend both sides from the other side....... My god, I need to get out more.

 

Side 5:LH and other trollish Harmless bashers. It would be easier if I listed where you HAVEN'T made mistakes. I'm just gonna pretend you guys don't exist.

 

So.... so what? Why on earth has a short ginger representative of the CoKs (not an official one, sadly) decided to reliably inform you on the sides in a conflict?

 

Simple. It's because you guys seriously need a bit of common sense and fact in here. I mean, I leave you lot alone for ONE day and you started a 32 page thread? Seriously?!

 

Drifting more into a serious tone, I would like you lot to put yourself in Harmless' shoes. They received a complaint from one of their members that they lost a lot of cav defending a siege (which slightly dents my faith in Harmless' tactical prowess BTW) which they regard as a rightful situation since the city is very close to their city and the player is inactive anyway. What would you do?

 

And now into Valar's shoes. A newly suspended old friend is being sieged. What do you do?

 

I think that Harmless made hopeful and righteous demands which make sense, but the thing is that Malpherion hit first. He was the aggressor, and he lost a few troops because of this. I think that his successful siege payed off part of it's own reward, so I would suggest you bump down your price to 20million ( Come on both of you two, haggling is fun). I also think that Rill should appreciate that sometimes, there are things which have to be dealt with between the alliances. It's not just a matter of  the compensation. Valar had to have the guts to look Harmless in the eye (metaphorically speaking, unless they have webcams), apologise for the attack and give the gold. Harmless then had to have the guts to take the gold, apologise for not contacting first and then thank Valar- or something along those lines. That provides the foundations to a good, strong relation with the other alliance and turns a potentially volatile situation into one where benefits are reaped. By attempting to intervene, RIll, although your intentions were good all you did was annoy KP and potentially sacrifice those benefits. I respect your intentions, but sometimes people have to sort things out by themselves. Plus it was partly your involvement that added to the 32 PAGES!

 

There isn't a truly right side, except of course for me because I am ME. (joke) But ya know what? Being truly right is virtually impossible. This incident has gone on for far longer than it should, and I think we should stop before we reach 50 pages and my eyes explode.

PS: I wonder how many pages this would have gotten were it about some small and insignificant alliance, not H?. Food for thought.
