Topic: Bug: Commander attacking empty square takes damage Posted: 28 Dec 2012 at 06:23 |
Like it says on the tin, I sent a level 0 yeoman, commanding two other yeomen, to an unoccupied square, and he took 5 damage. Tested to make sure, and it is repeatable.
combat report: Combat Report | Sent By: | System | Received By: | Thron the Younger | Date: | 28 Dec 2012 06:07 | Attackers arrive, unopposed, at this location. Cavalry comes into its own when able to strike hostile forces at will, and from unexpected directions - and nowhere is this more feasible than on open plains. Lightly armoured spear units, however, prefer terrain where there's some cover available. Fighting defensively on open plains, cavalry draws strength from the ability to form and reform their lines of engagement depending on the direction of battle, and it is here where cavalry excels. Attackers: | Unit: | Quantity: | Casualties: | Survivors: |
---|
Commander: Thron the Younger | Yeoman | 1 | Damaged for 5, 94 health remains. | Troops: | Yeomen | 2 | 0 | 2 |
Defenders: | Unit: | Quantity: | Casualties: | Survivors: |

I seem to remember that attacking an empty square used to yield an empty combat report. It seems that this has changed?

I guess his troops hit him over the head, for having them march out of the city only to arrive somewhere with nothing to fight.
Serves him right really.

Did your commander land with only 99 health? (Wondering if that's the case, or if the calculation rounds but the display truncates.)

This was the report for the second "attack." On the first, he was reduced to 95 health.

Ah, so he probably hadn't fully healed yet. Still, I wonder if it's just commanders, or if you sent enough troops, if they would take losses too. For example, if you sent 100 troops, would 5 of them die? Is there some attrition damage incurred just for traveling or attacking?

I don't know what's going on, but I've experienced this as well a couple of times.
