It's definately you, mines going fine and if I recall the devs right, the game isn't even working at a fraction of capacity yet.

The game's front-end design exacerbates lag issues (a lot of http chatter and bloaty, possibly uncompressed html), meaning you are much more likely to experience abnormally poor performance/page response on cable and/or overseas connections.

Works poorly from East Coast Canada, (and I'm on a fiber connection with <40ms average pings, ~20ms local). uk1.illyriad.co.uk pings at about 80ms right now, and performance is nice. During non-morning hours, however, ping and performance will both degrade quite significantly.
The difference is grossly disproportionate to what one would normally experience with the same degradation in ping, and actual bandwidth degradation is negligible. This game is practically a model case study for the benefits of AJAX, and to a tiny extent, client-side processing/updating.

Well... If you can convince SC to stop listening to players and adding to his infinite feature set... Although we will be going down that route on the way to facebook, balckberry, iphone etc apps; and opening up a player api. But Shhh... I never said anything...
