I got a message when I failed to log in A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) Now nothing happens

Hi everyone,
Many apologies for that brief outage (around 23 minutes, all told). No, nothing that Thundercat did, I'm please to say... according to our hosting provider, there was "emergency scheduled maintenance" because of a failing switch in the data center, and swapping it out "might cause a loss of connectivity for a minority of customers". We only got a few hrs notice of this "emergency" maintenance - and (being mostly UK-based) we had already gone home for the evening. I've made it clear to our hosting providers that we don't think that "emergency" and "scheduled" really belong in the same sentence and that they should know *exactly* which customers would be effected by the swap out, and that they should also contact them via better means than twitter. I've also asked where the redundant/failover systems were. Let's see what we get back. Frustrating, and - again - apologies from us all here at Illy. Regards, SC
