The development team is pleased to announce a number of key game patches and rule changes to Illyriad. Some of these patches and changes build off of the bugs relating to sieges, blockades, and encampments that GM Stormcrow highlighted in his May 16 post. All of the following patches and changes are currently live:

Negative Mana Issue

Issue: This is an issue that we heard about from several players. Mana deficiencies could appear in towns where the city would go negative in mana largely due to a lack of checks on adding additional mana power to spells, the net result being that players were unable to cast any further spells.

Fix: We have put in additional checks at the point of spell casting to prevent the accidental (or intentional) ‘overmana-ing’ of spells.  Cities currently in negative mana have been returned to zero.  If you somehow get your city into negative mana from now on, we’re going to ask you a lot of questions about how you did it.

Changes to Blockade Sequencing Rules

Old Rule: Blockades work in series with one another. For example, if you have 3 blockades, A, B, and C, Blockade A holds the Blockading mechanic until broken/recalled, and then Blockade B takes over, and so forth.

When that series of blockade events gets broken out of its arrival order, any remaining blockading army -- whilst still visually having an army present that is marked as ‘blockading’ in the user interface -- may not actually be performing the blockade function, allowing vans to be pushed through despite a blockade being ostensibly in place.

This has been the case for more than a decade now and was, we gather, used fairly extensively as a deliberate tactic in the SIN/Shark war back in 2016 -- but rarely since.  The tactic doesn’t involve any use of cheats or developer tools -- it leverages the original sequencing rules of the game as they pertain to blockading.

Change: We’ve added a cleanup script so that multiple Blockades no longer run as a series of connected blockade events, but as a whole. Now, when blockades get broken out of the order they landed, each blockade will act as intended, in continuing to blockade the target city.

Non-standard Commanders

Issue: A couple of players using GDT (ie, peering under the hood) were able to make non-standard units (eg Clockworks) into commanders.

Fix: These non-standard unit commanders have been removed from the game, and the GDT-exploitable loophole has been closed.

Faction Hub Descriptions

Issue: Hall of Contemplation, Hall of Reflection, Wylvale, College of Silence, Grisj-hhuragk hub descriptions were not correctly attributed.

Fix: Descriptions corrected and updated, new Grisj-hhuragk description created. Many thanks to Freyja.  This may require a refresh of your browser.

General Thanks

Special thanks to our players for continuing to identify issues and bringing them up to our attention. We are hoping to switch to this format and keep you all in the loop of what we’re doing behind the scenes to improve Illyriad for everyone.

Nice :) good to see updates happening again.
This is the thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friend. Some person started it, not knowing what it was, and we'll continue posting on it forever just because...

They fixed equipping commanders with books and clay and other resources that weren't allowed as well
I am not amused.

We did?

Was not aware this was even a thing.

I am certainly not aware how this would ever come about or what advantage it would bring.

2 questions, though:

1) What, on the face of god's green earth, would be the point of equipping a commander with books, clay or indeed any other resource other than equipment?
2) How was/is this possibly achieved, without using Developer Tools?

Best,

SC

You would equip random crap into random slots like this crap. I assume some kind of bonus would occur with equipping a moonshatter into your horse slot. I never actually used a commander with illegal equipment for anything. You go into your GDT from the equip menu and in your chooseItemItem you change whatever your option was to something else like a 2, 4 or a 558. Game never checked if it was a legal option on the back end, only on the front end.

You can do the same thing with producing resources, but you could never produce anything you couldn't produce and they would be produced in the building that actually produced them. THAT was genuinely pointless and not worth doing. Just go to your forge to produce plate armour, it wasn't worth the effort to change the value in the brewery.
I am not amused.
