Hey all, a while ago I wrote Audrey 101 based on the information available about the quest at the time.
With Audrey now solved, I think it worth updating.

1: Acquire city with either full, or near complete crafting research
No elaboration needed.

2: Send Spy to Fortune Teller
The fortune teller moves daily at 00:00 UTC so your spy must land before the day ends. It may take multiple attempts to get the right fortune.
Here is a link to locations that updates daily at 01:00 UTC:
The correct fortune will say something like: "So you seek to learn the mystery of the (insert quest reward here). I will be in touch".

3: Gather Tentacles
After receiving the correct fortune, the old crone will visit your city in about a week. You will be asked to gather 5 corrupted tentacles of each race in the city that got the fortune (the quest city), and then send a messenger to Duraz Karag.

4: Send a Messenger to Duraz Karag
You'll receive a message warning you of danger once Audrey next wakes. There is some truth to this statement but it's worth noting its not enough to simply wake Audrey up, the current belief is that she must also be sated (i.e., fed millions of troops after waking until she is satisfied).

Following this step, your quest city is prepared. It will advance with the quest the next time Audrey is sated, even if that is many years in the future. It's unknown if quest cities remain prepared if they are exodused or not. If you exodus your quest city, I would consider redoing the prior steps to be 100%.

5: Wake and sate Audrey
This is the most difficult stage of the quest and has been managed twice in Illyriad's history.

Waking Audrey takes a few million troops sent to the Heart of Corruption, not particularly many. This isn't enough, there seems to be a hidden requirement in order to trigger the quest to advance. For over a decade, Audrey was woken numerous times but the quest never advanced. Its worth noting that players would send the bare minimum needed to wake her and no more during that decade.

In the November 2025 Audrey attempt, a recorded ~30 million xp worth of troops were sent to Audrey after she had started beating. She beat for 41 days, far longer than the usual and expected 2-3 weeks. On the 39th day, the quest advanced. It is believed sending more troops prolongs the amount of time she beats, and triggers the quest to advance. Whether it's a static number of troops that's required or a percentage of the servers total troops is unknown.

Should the quest be successfully advanced, you will receive a message from the Old Crone stating that "The Horror has stirred; and the fools continue to feed it". What's more, noxious spores will set in atop quest cities, making them easily identifiable on the map.

From here on I will site the Nov. 2025 quest attempt frequently as it is the only source we have for success.

6: Surround the Quest City
Roughly a week after Audrey stopped beating during the 2025 attempt, quest players received a message reporting the tentacles within their cities had vanished.
Players who had removed the tentacles from their quest city received a different message stating that they had failed this quest attempt, and could advance no further, but left open the possibility for future attempts if they added the tentacles back to their city.

At this stage, have armies occupy all 8 tiles surrounding your quest city. Approximately 1 week after the tentacles vanished, the Captain of the Guard reported disturbances in the land around the quest city.
4 days later, another message from the Guard was received by quest players. In the case of those who occupied all 8 tiles around their city, the Guard reported that the city stood secure. Those who did not occupy the tiles had tentacles rise up around their city - these players failed the quest.

7: Defend the City from direct Attack
A day later, a direct attack was sent from Audrey to the quest cities. The attack was extremely fast moving, moving from the Heart of Corruption to the quest cities in 0-3 hours depending on distance. The attack is also extremely weak, 10 thousand of any troop should be plenty to defeat it. Make sure you have enough troops in your town to defend it. If you lose this battle, you fail the quest, if you win you advance to the final stage.

8: The Riddle
3 days later, the Old Crone visited for a final time with a riddle instead of clear instructions for the final task. The final task is to simply occupy one of the 14 peaks that rise above the misted lands. A week after the Old Crone's visit, the mist was lifted from the Misted Lands and players were able to occupy and claim sovereignty on the peaks. The following are the 14 peaks.

-636|763
-631|761
-640|760
-639|760
-638|760
-633|759
-642|758
-637|756
-633|755
-632|755
-631|755
-639|753
-633|751
-641|750

9: Hold a Peak
About 2-3 weeks after the mist being removed from the misted lands, a majority of players with an army occupying one of the peaks solved the quest, and got the discovery in their towns.

I say the majority as there were at least 2 players reporting that they had received a message saying they failed for reasons unknown. I don't have enough information to say why. I wondered if it was a problem with sovereignty but there was a player with sovereignty on a peak who still failed, and players without sovereignty who passed. It may be something to do with failing players not having scouted the peaks but I am doubtful of that. All I can advise is sending armies to one or more (preferably more for backups) on occupy orders, and making sure you keep an army from the quest city there at all times.

Following the quest's completion, the mist set in once more on the Misted Lands, the noxious fog on quest cities disappeared, and tentacles surrounding failed cities disappeared.

That's about it, good luck. If anyone has further observations/info feel free to post below.
Cheers,
Remy

Yes - thanks for the thorough summary. I was fortunate to have several quest cities succeed. They had support troops (3-5k each) occupying a misted lands peak where an allied player had Lvl 1 sov.

Unfortunately, the allied town holding sov control did not succeed. Perhaps that town did not have enough troops, had a break in occupation, or perhaps the town holding sov is blocked from the discovery itself. In addition, although some successful quest towns sent scouts and spies to the occupied and sov'd peak, all scouts and spies received the lost in the mist message, and some of the successful towns sent neither scouts nor spies.

Wishing for even more folks to successfully complete the quest on the next go round
