On behalf of the Empire of the Eight Hand Crow, Fred the Quokka would like to invite ... nay, insists, you join him and the Empire's traders in a month-long trading event on the lush plains of Keshalia.

There will be singing.

There will be dancing.

There will be no judging the Bolism for his life choices.

The Devil is in the Details

From 1-30 November 2022, eCrow traders will descend upon Ordu Kush, and will be buying and selling all manner of delightful items with anyone who cares to join in.

As this is a Faction Play event, participation will have an affect on alliance rankings, found here

Side Note: if you want to participate in this event, but not Faction Play over all, no quokkas, mate. We would love to see more people engaging with Faction Play, but feel free to use this as a way of dipping your toes in and testing the waters before diving all the way in (or not diving in at all!). If you want to learn more about Faction Play, the ELVES profile is a great place to start.

If you are in a faction alliance, you are encouraged to log your trade reports in the slack, and engage with participants as your own alliance rankings dictate.

GM Stormcrow Is Much Better At Funny Headings Than I Am But We. Do. Our. Best.

Some of the things you can expect from eCrow in addition to listed orders include:
  • flash sales (announced in GC)
  • coupons that can be redeemed both during November, and afterwards
  • bonus items
  • rebates on purchases
Those who are particularly engaged in the event will find with additional surPRIZES throughout the month*

But November Is Tourney Month!

My friend, if you're using your armies to trade, tell me your secrets, I need to know.

I Have Nothing Funny Left (did I even have anything funny to start with?)

I do hope you will all join us in Ordu Kush, have some fun and pick up some good deals. If you're feeling particularly nerdy (or even just bored), I highly recommend you check out the Tipu Khan** faction page, which spawned this idea.

--
* eCrow love it when I send out alliance mails, truly.
** Brian doesn't know this but it's my headcanon that he is secretly Tipu Khan. "For most of the year, the Tipu Khan roam the vast grasslands that they inhabit (and jealously guard), grazing and growing their herd.". See??

DEATH TO QUOKKAS
This is the thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friend. Some person started it, not knowing what it was, and we'll continue posting on it forever just because...

Thank you for the event.

I will be there with some shiny weapons and maybe even Prestige to sell at a discount price (compared to Centrum).

I sent the following alliance mail to our members.

Hello ITG/SMA/FDU-S,

as you may know there is going to be a faction play event (Autumn Market) in november. This mail contains some additional information and what to do to participate.

Faction Play is content created by players for players. More information in the Faction Play section. This event is run by eCrow and their leader Sa'Belle. Any player that wants to participate can participate.

The Autumn Market is a trade event - meaning it is all about trading items.

In Illyriad there are a lot of Factions (essentially NPCs - see Factions). Those Faction have Faction hubs all over Illyriad (you can see them in the Strategic map with Factions enabled) that can be used to trade and store goods. By default your capital has access to Centrum and Hope Ridge. To access a specific hub you have to send a trader here. More information about traders in the Trader section.

The location of the Autumn Market is Ordu Kush in Keshalia: #/World/Map/684/-174

Send a trader there to participate in the event.

What to expect:

  1. There are going to be discounted items compared to Centrum.
  2. You might get additional items when you buy from eCrow
  3. You can earn Faction ranking buffs (more in the section Faction Play)
  4. Requests for specific items are encouraged but not guaranteed.

I am going to participate and sell some Moonshatter and Magic gear for a discount in addition to maybe Prestige.

As a reminder the announcement again:

Faction Play

Faction Play is content created by players for players. Factions have been implemented in Illyriad a long time ago but they never "woke up", meaning you could not interact with them. A few years back Jejune (now GM Jejune) decided to create a player-led Faction Play. The idea was that so-called Faction Alliances behave like Factions instead of Alliances - meaning they behave according to a defined ruleset and you can change their behaviour towards you. So for example if you attack a Faction Alliance you lose ranking with them but you improve your ranking with their enemies.

Jejune created a rulebook and a lot of tools to make that possible. A lot of alliances joined as Faction Alliances (including Dlords, ELVES, ORCS, Kelts and now eCrow).

Over the last years Jejune organized multiple events and tournaments for non-Faction Alliances that were a lot of fun.

Around half a year ago the Illyriad developers announced that Jejune is now GameMaster and that they are working on Faction AI - which is essentially an improved version of Faction Play as part of the core game. More information about it here: New role as GM and Prefaction AI launch guide

Since then Faction Play has not been as active as before (as Jejune is working on the core game) - so i am really happy that another Faction Play event is happening.

Trader

Traders are necessary to trade at Trade Hubs (outside of Centrum and Hope Ridge). They allow you to see the offers there and put up your own offers. In addition they allow you to send vans there to ship back items.

Trade Hubs are really powerful tools in Illyriad. They allow you to store an infinite amount of goods that cannot be stolen. You can make Trade Hubs the "home" of vans - meaning they return there. Which means it is easy to ship out resources and items to your cities.

All the research you need is in the Trade tree: #/Research/Tree/5

To unlock Traders you need Guilds -> Merchants Guild -> Trader. You have to build a Merchants Guild (lvl 1 is enough!) in your city and then you can create Traders in the marketplace.

Note: The first trader does not require wine. But after the first one you need wine and it gets expensive fast.

Faction Markets is a useful research that allows you to send vans to Trade Hubs.

Trade Offices allow you to put up Buy and Sell offers at Trade Hubs. They have a high hourly resource upkeep - so be careful about building them up. They are useful later on (you do not need a high level though - i have a lvl 10 Trade Office and i trade a lot).

More information and a guide and video guide in the forums: Help -> Trade

I hope this mail helps. In case you have any questions please ask me or in AC. We are glad to help!

Best regards,

Thirion/Ellania

Maybe it helps some players here too.

It is getting late - so sorry for any typos or difficulties understanding.

We are now live!

It's great to see so many orders already listed, and I hear there have been a few sneaky pre-event trades!

Just a couple reminders:

  • There is no One Prize or way To Win - participation IS winning, and that is what will be rewarded. How it will be tracked is a state secret, and no matter how much you torture Bolism, he won't give up the secrets.
  • Buy AND sell orders are recognised for participation, so if there's something you've been wanting and it's not listed for sale, stick up a buy order! Maybe your fairy crowmother will bless you.
  • I had a third thing but I've already forgotten it so clearly it wasn't important.

Other exciting news!

I am delighted to announce that we will be co-hosting a side quest with Dlord. This side quest will take the form of a one-off DnD session. The format of DnD does mean this quest will have limited places available, but depending on interest and timezones, we may run multiple sessions.

To register your interest in participating, please send me IGM with your favourite joke and timezone. The joke doesn't do anything, I just like jokes. If you are interested, it won't hurt to start thinking about your character bio - don't worry about the stats etc, unless you really want to.

At the end of the month, invites will be sent to those successful in securing a place. I am hopeful we will be able to accommodate everyone, but if there is more interest than places available, names will be drawn at random. Details about the quest content will also be sent around this time - I don't want to give too much away just yet, but you can expect mischief and shenanigans!

This quest will be newb-friendly, so if you have never participated in DnD before, please don't let that stop you. Enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go counts for a lot!

Voila, you have been heard.

After a bit of poking around, and with the invaluable assistance of Tens and Bazoon, I now have a way to track ALL event trades ... with a little help from you all.

I have set up a google form for you to submit the link to the XML data for your trade, found in each IGM you receive. You can find the form here, and some instructions here

But Belle, effort

I get it, I have just spent 2 hours logging 142 reports**, but this is what we have to work with, and it is the option with the least amount of work required by anyone. You are certainly not required to log reports to participate in the event, but the completionist in me would be delighted if you did.

What about reports for trades completed before today/I don't still have the IGMs??

All good, my friend, log what you can and are willing to, and we'll muddle through the rest. I still have plenty of data to work with from this first week.

** Just a little fun facts - these 142 reports have been generated by buy and sell orders listed by eCrow, involving 23 people, and total a bit over 647m gold. The largest order was for 120m (3 pres scraps), and smallest 20 (2 hunter's bows).

It's late but we're here! Have some stats!

Please keep in mind these numbers are based ONLY on the trade reports that were submitted through the form, and are therefore not all of the trades that occurred in the hub (GM SC, if you wanted to give us some actual stats, that would be delightful Big smile).

Until then, though, we make do with what we have.

Number of sellers - 27
Number of buyers - 46
Total gold spent - 8,573,126,402
Number of items sold - 205

Highest gold spend

1. Jekyll - 1.85b
2. Emil - 1.84b
3. Eoqan - 1.3b
4. atreides - 6.2m
5. Ordo - 4.7m

Most orders accepted - Buyers (number of orders, gold spent)

1. Eoqan - 123, 1.3b
2. Ace - 111, 94m
3. Ordo - 110, 477m
4. Janos Myr - 60, 126m
5. Thirion - 34, 381m

Most Sell orders accepted - Sellers (number of orders, gold received)

1. Jekyll - 84, 431m
2. Unseated Ant - 62, 50m
3. Janos Myr - 50, 160m
4. moo - 49, 197m
5. Maedhros - 37, 434m

Most popular item (number of trades, total volume, gold)

1. Moos - 39, 816k, 321m
2. Saddles - 35, 335k, 300m
3. Chain - 29, 531k, 274m
4. Prestige scraps - 24, 106, 4.8b
5. Beer - 21, 681k, 204m
5. Bows - 21, 745k, 100m
5. Books - 21, 141k, 47m

I was going to do least popular item, but there were so many items with less than 5 orders that was a bit unwieldy.

Most expensive item (average price, number sold)

1. Torment of Kerberos - 100m, 1
2. Prestige Scrap - 40.4m, 106
3. Mail of Impunity - 5m, 2
4. Shard of Ferocity - 3.9m, 3
5. Moonshatter Leather - 2.5m, 1

Least expensive item (average price, number sold) (excluding basic resources)

1. Hunter's Bow - 2, 10
2. Salamander Fang - 40, 205
3. Horses - 52, 503k
4. Spears - 64, 300k
5. Plate Armour - 77, 206k

For those participating in the DnD side quest - organising this is still in progress and I will be in touch when dates are available.

For everyone else - keep an eye out for the announcement of the next trade event, coming soon! (But sooner than Soon)
