I somehow doubt that having your taxes at 100% for a week gets you 500k gold.

i get about 300kish per week at my second city with 100% taxes

As a new player, you should have your taxes at 0%, or around there.
At your size I would recommend 15% or lower.

Well good luck in your alliance, I don't approve of someone so little as you founding an alliance, but have at it.

I agree with you Sean. They should be encouraging you to have fun and set up your alliance BUT you have to take into account that players like Nokigon. Kurfist/Clavius Vile and  Selissa the forum spam queen (LOL) are saying the opposite. Nokigon for example is a member of Cave of Knowledge. That alliance  is based not to far from your position.

Reality is that for some reason they are being negative and may well be hostile and you should take that into account before you make your decision.

What might be helpful now if other bigger alliance leaders posted messages of support for you here in the forum

Good luck

Me and some friends founded our alliance extremely early in the game. Vets had been generously sending carepackages (including gold) to us and we wanted to be physically near eachother so we founded our alliance and relocated.

It's going very well and we're self sufficient now and growing, so it CAN be done, but we had the advantage of being more than a few players who actually knew eachother from other games, real life, etc. when we founded Triality.

I don't think I would dare form an alliance as a new player if I only had strangers to invite.

Just my 2 cents but if you feel like it, go ahead and I wish you good luck.
