War declaration on Roads by Fuc

For those of you who don't know me, ropadope and myself have been co-leading Roads ever since our leader Odd was banned from the game.

Yesterday my alt tych had a random-seeming incoming attack on one of her towns by a fuc member.   Worried and a bit shocked, I asked around and also asked the person sending the attack. Since it was the only army incoming, my main worry was for it not to escalate. And to be honest I was worried that it might be a blockade preventing me from sending res to newbies. This person replied to me saying it was not a blockade but didn't tell me anything else. I had hoped that meant everything was resolved since the person I talked to was acting reasonably polite.

Then, today, fuc declared war on Roads. This was extremely unexpected. As far as I know none of our players have had any real issue with any of the fuc players. And roads is a peaceful alliance. Most of us are traders, harvesters, roads builders, mystery solvers. Roads was in one war briefly 2 and a half years ago and has tried to avoid war since then. It is not something we like or want.

Seeing the declaration and also attacks on a couple medium-sized Roads members, I immediately sent a peace request and asked several fuc members for how best to make a fast peace. All I have been told by them is that peace is not an option and that they will refuse to tell us why they have declared war on us.


Just to stop those who will immediately bring up Tanya: Tanya is an old friend but not in Roads. I volunteered to be a mediator to help prevent the semi-war between tanya and HumanResources (now a member of fuc). Although HumanResources and myself argued some, I came out thinking we were at least friendly acquaintances. And neither myself nor roads were involved in the semi-war besides just the offer to mediate. Tanya specifically did not ask us for help, which I appreciate because she knows I am not a fan of war. I don't know if any of this has anything to do with the fuc attack on roads, but I wanted to say it for the record.

As far as it seems to me, a peaceful and friendly alliance (Roads) is being attacked and picked on for no reason I can think of and no reason the attackers have given us.

And although I am sure it is not their intentions, if they refuse peace and turn it into a full blown war I worry that it could destroy roads. Roads has not been very stable ever since many of our players including our leader were banned or abandoned. It has honestly been a lot of pressure keeping things together. And a lot of our members just really don't like war. For myself, I hate war games. I play illy specifically because it is a place where war is optional. People are polite here. People are usually reasonable and talk things out. Random war declarations are seriously rare and I think these things are what makes illy great and different.

A lot of roads members really don't want war. It is not an issue of 'we are big, we have a capability of war' or not... it is a matter of we do not enjoy it. Forcing war on us could easily make a lot of good people here not like the game and quit. I include myself in that category. I have struggled to keep roads afloat and happy. I do not need the additional stress of the one thing I hate most of all—war. Games should be fun. Multi-player games should be fun for all sides, not just one side.

I worry for my newbies (the bigger or the smaller... they are all my newbies in my mind). I worry for Roads. I worry that war will ruin the fun of the game for us and destroy Roads. As far as I know we have not made any great offense. I just want us to keep being allowed to have fun in our own way. And for this game to continue to be a place where people can have fun in their own way without making others unhappy.

I sincerely hope fuc decides to talk this out with us, and let us declare peace. A start to that would be telling us why this even started.

It's moving a little slow in regards to getting everyone together at the same time. Also, today I found out that a siege landed on Progressor's town in Lan Larosh.

A person told me today:
Roads have 90+ members.
My alliance have 12 members.

Obviously both alliances have sat accounts/alts... But still, even though we in my alliance might be military minded, you should have a pretty good shot at putting up a fight, even if you don't want to. I'm a new member in Furious Unicorn Cult and today several people badmouthed me and blamed me for what is going on.

So I have to point something out, since I feel the need to.  DeliciousJosh a.k.a HumanResources (me) has nothing to do with the Roads war so far. It wasn't my idea. I didn't tell anyone it was either. The opposite has occurred though, since I'm trying to stop it.

Even my good buddy Koda, whom I always stand up for, and was even the reason while I attacked TF, has now been influenced by someone who thinks I'm an idiot and now has a really bad opinion about me. So thanks whoever did that.

I want to thank everyone for their support in that brief but troubling time and to thank Furious Unicorn Cult for coming to the table so that we could talk things over and come to a peaceful agreement.
