Topic: Question about Runes Posted: 05 May 2010 at 12:53 |
I wasn't able to find it answered elsewhere but why can you only cast one protective rune on your own city? I have to choose if I want to scare units away, kill hostile units, or kill one of the five diplomatic units.
It seems a bit odd to me that I can't cast all three rune spells on my own city for protection. Is there any particular reason why I can't? Other than that, this game is great! Thank you so much and I'm glad I found it.

I was just about to make the same question.
I cannot cast multiple runes to kill different types of diplomats either, for instance lvl 1 rune to kill scouts and lvl 2 rune to catch thieves.
And while one of these are active I cannot make a rune to kill units at all. Is this a bug??

makes sence to me, guess we have to 'choose' which runes to cast otherwise we would all just cast everything we could, this way we have to be selective

I can understand not being able to cast a rune to protect against every single diplomatic unit. I can even understand not being able to cast the fear and slaying runes together, though I don't agree with it. However, not being able to cast a defensive rune against armies (IE. Fear and Slaying Runes) and not being able to cast a rune to protect against a type of diplomatic unit seems too restrictive for the amount of time and points you spend in the ability to cast the runes.

The defensive position is already an advantageous one. I really wouldn't want to see things balance even more in favor of the defender. Runes are free kills--don't look a gift horse in the mouth, I say.

The thing is also that bigger players tend to kill smaller players. I think it SHOULD be advantagous to be a defender. Anyways the runes got a 4 hours cooldown, so you cannot effectivly spam them to hurt a persistant assailant. He just needs to launch again. Anyways an admin statement would be nice i think :)
