Hi all,

Patchnotes just bringing things up-to-date.

  • New Buildings
14 out of the 20 "first tranche" of new buildings have been released.  The remaining 6 (Chancery of Estates, Military Academy and the 4 Magic-related buildings) will be released over the next few days.  Nearly all of these buildings, unlike regular buildings, cost Wood, Clay, Iron and Stone to maintain; and the costs increase with the building level - so, apart from the Architect's Office - they are largely unsuitable for new players to the game.  You can build multiple versions of most of these buildings in the same town, but each additional building performs half as effectively as its predecessor, whilst still consuming the same resources.  Please see the forums for details on these new buildings.

  • Foreign Office
The Foreign Office (a new Diplomatic building) has had its visibility range doubled to 10% per level of the Foreign Office building.

  • Resource Consumption for Military Buildings
Due to a snafu at our end, the first four military "upkeep reduction" buildings had not had their consumption figures loaded for the first 36 hours.  These figures were loaded in on Saturday morning (early) and players who have built these buildings may find that their resource numbers have subsequently changed to take these buildings into account.

  • Diplomatic Warning Ranges on Diplomatic Summary
The range at which your town will be notified when hostile diplomats are inbound is now displayed on the Diplomatic Summary page.   This range depends on 3 elements - the level of your consulate, whether you have any Discoveries that might affect warning range and thirdly, the number and level of Foreign Offices built in your town.

The Diplomatic Summary also now shows the visibility range of your scouts and spies when they are travelling abroad - if they pass within these ranges, you will be able to see foreign diplomatic units on the world map (although you will not get a notification).

  • Architect's Office Bonus
The Construction time bonus that the Architect's Office provides is now shown on your building build and upgrade pages.

  • Changing Your Playername
If, for whatever reason, you wish to change your player name in-game you can now do so from the Account Management page.  This costs a substantial amount of Prestige to do, and won't prevent players who know your existing name from discovering what your new name is (it's not a griefers' charter, by any means).   This now means that we will not consider any requests for name changes by Petition for any reason whatosever, so please don't ask.  We will, however, forcibly rename players who pick names that breach the Terms of Service; so you'll be stuck with the name "Player25321" for all time unless you spend prestige to change your name again.  Players who choose particularly offensive names will continue to be instantly suspended.

  • Abandoning Your Account
You can now choose to abandon your account from your Account Management page.  This means that we no longer accept "Delete Me" Petitions.  The option to abandon your account is only available to players logged in with the account password, not sitters, and this option will give you an "Are you sure?" prompt.  Please note that - if you choose to abandon your account in order to start over - this is *not* un-doable.  Once you say "yes" to the "Are you sure?" prompt, then that's it - your account is irrevocably and irretrievably gone.  Petitioning will not bring it back.

  • Skype Toolbar
Running Illyriad with the Skype toolbar in place used to cause the Skype toolbar to crash after a certain period of time.  This was because the Skype toolbar attempts to meddle with every single number on the game pages (such as the amount of resources stored) by turning them into phone numbers.  We believe we have now prevented Skype toolbar from attempting to do so, and it should work fine going forward.

  • Server Stats
Statistics visible on the Herald for (eg) the number of players currently online, or the amount of troops in motion are no longer realtime (yes, they were actually realtime previously).  These stats are now snapshots, taken every 5 minutes.

  • Global Chat News Flashes
Both Declarations of War and the initial set-up of a Siege Camp are now reported to Global Chat in the form of a "News Flash".  We don't have plans to increase the number of News Flashes that appear in Global Chat, as it's plenty busy enough already.

  • Declaring War
This Alliance Diplomatic Option used to function but would also throw an error message onto the declarer's screen. This has been fixed, and no error message is presented.

Regards,

SC

Any chance we'll be able to order scouts and spies to "Occupy" a square? Smile
