I know... can you believe we even had a lawyer help draft it? Miracles will never cease!
Thanks, both of you - I think it's only fair - even if it's a hassle for everyone involved. Regards, SC

That can't be a privacy policy - you don't need several law degrees to read it! On a more serious note I echo scottfitz - very nice of you to go out of your way for those that now need a parental consent. |

Changes to our Privacy Policy & Terms & Conditions
Hey everyone, You've probably been inundated recently by emails from all sorts of businesses regarding a new privacy policy, introduced because of the new European General Data Protection Regulation (aka GDPR). We're the same, and are strengthening your privacy in accordance with the new law - regardless of whether you are a resident or citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA) or not; because we - as a British company - need to comply. On the plus side, we were always pretty much in compliance anyway via the UK's Data Protection Act, so - in practical terms - not much is actually changing, except you have a few additional rights over your data. There are two things to be aware of: 1. We have a new privacy policy It's in Plain English, it's pretty straightforward, it comes into immediate effect, and you can read it here. It's also linked from the bottom of pretty much every page ingame. If you don't accept the new privacy policy (and I can't see why anyone wouldn't agree with it, as it strengthens your data protections rather than weakens them!), then please stop playing Illyriad. We'd be sad to see you go, of course; but we don't have a choice in this matter - and besides, it's better for you and your rights to have GDPR in place! 2. The new minimum age for playing Illyriad is now 16 years old We do understand that there may be players between the age of 13 and 15 (inclusive) who are currently playing. We don't think that there are many, but if you are, kicking you out wouldn't be fair on you, and we don't want to lose you. So, if you are currently 13, 14 or 15 years of age, please get in touch with GM Cerberus via in game mail, and he'll talk you through the process of getting a written Parental or Legal Guardian consent for you to play Illyriad until your 16th birthday (where the consent expires, and you can play under your own authorisation). If you cannot get a written Parental/Guardian consent, then - unfortunately - you cannot continue to play Illyriad. We are only offering this Parental consent option as a one-off to current players who are under-age. New players must be 16 years old or greater. Many thanks! SC
