as a note: there will probably be more buildings in the future, but not building plots, so you might have to chose some things.

QFT I use gold->change tax rate to reach castle and mana->cast spells to reach mage tower.

The only reason I ever look at the town map is to get to the castle and the mage tower menus since you can't get to those things direct from the buttons at the top.
Going through the town to do stuff is a PIA.

I was lucky to find an aesthetically well balanced layout with my first city, and I have duplicated it to each subsequent one. Having sat for a few accounts with different layouts though, I do agree it can get pretty sloppy and chaotic looking.

As of now, players can select the placement of individual buildings. However, this does not have any gameplay effects and sometimes we have buildings oddly placed due to them having different sizes and dimensions. Therefore, what if we standardise the layout of each settlement, so players don't have to worry about picking the wrong spot when placing a building (because I've done that a few times and they looked very oddly-placed, like Consulate touching a row of houses next to it)?
I am aware that there is plan to force players to specialise each settlements. To accommodate this change in game mechanics, what if the buildings are divided into certain groups based on their sizes? For instance, Library, Consulate, and Mage Tower have approximately the same size so they should belong to one group (let's call it Group A). Smaller buildings like Foundry, Stonemason, Windmill belong to another group (Group B).
Each settlement will only have a limited amount of spots for Group A buildings and another set of spots for Group B buildings.
