The Night Crusaders were formed June 2012.

4 months later we were confeds with Harmless and proud members of The Coalition.  So I don't believe for a moment that new alliances are pointless.

Alot of older alliances in the game are loaded with inactive players.  They are merely an illusion of strength.  Never underestimate a small, nimble group of active players.

Not impossible, but an alliance formed around a core of vets has a better outlook than an alliance formed with no vets.  Gold cost is immaterial.

I don't think anyone was offended. It's a fair question that has been asked in most big MMOs at some point or another.

Usually it happens within a week or two of a new server release. Unless something catastrophic occurs, those original big alliances will always remain large. So, if you're one of those new players who wants size, activity and existing success--and many MMO players do--then that's where you apply.

I do, however, believe that there are lots of other valid reasons to start an alliance. Not all new alliances have scale as a goal; in fact, most don't, because if those players wanted scale, they'd join the existing big alliances. They might be oriented around trade, crafting, regional alliances, real-life friendships or specific aspects of the game.

What you're basically implying is that we shouldn't form any new music bands. There are a few superstar bands out there now, and they've made billions of dollars. They're very popular, highly successful and universally appreciated... therefore, we probably don't need any new music in the future. If you're a Top 40 radio listener, maybe you don't. But not all bands want to be multi-platinum recording acts. And you'll never see another smash hit band if nobody ever starts a new one.
A very insightful argument. I was merely giving my two cents on the matter. I apologize to anyone who has be offended by this post, it was never my intention

True, though you didn't exactly start from zero did you?  That said, I agree with the general consensus here.  I have not, relatively speaking, been here all that long, and I've seen new alliances started up from the ground and multi-wing alliance families fade away.  It can be done.

New alliances can be great. And remember every member can add something and bring something to the table. If you stay dedicated to having an active roster- those small members turn into big members and eventually your really taking off.

As with most things in illy- theres not a "quick fix". Everything takes time
I agree that with BL coming this could be a better time than normal for ppl looking to band together

Not saying it's easy, but if you are motivated, there is absolutely no reason why new alliances can't grow strong today. This is doubly true for when BL comes out and everyone is starting from scratch in that continent...

Just my two cents.
