Indeed, sending them through blockades would not be a good idea -- but unless the cities were extremely close together, there would be plenty of time to time vans ahead of blockades landing using prestige.

Beware of blockades, then... not sure how crafted items react in this case... most certainly get captured if sent in the wrong moment!

Equipment, unlike troops, does not have upkeep cost.  I think the jury is still out on equipping armies, but recovery from troops used in city defense is 100% (drops into city inventory).  So having equipment for a standing army to use in city defense may make sense.  For this purpose, terrain-specific gear seems to be the way to go, since you know what terrain your city will be on.

It might also make sense for alliances to have an alliance armory of equipment kept at a trade hub, for example (or a player city since it can't be stolen).  The equipment could be prestige vanned to the sites it is most needed.

Sure, an equipped army is better than a comparable non-equiped but it comes down to cost. Is it cheaper to just recruit more soldiers? I would say yes.

Commander gear, on the other hand is a good investment.

I was wondering if it is worth equipping armies for defense or attack or just the commander , i mean i would assume an army of 10,000 Archers on a Mountain equipped with mountain gear would probably beat of lets say a army of 10,000 cavalry without any extra gear . i guess what I'm asking is , is it worth the time and money to equip armies in times of war . and in times of peace craft or buy the equipment. or is it just  better to not equip the armies fully
