Forgive my lack of knowledge here, but there's a "refer a new player for 50 prestige points" scheme.

Did the social media links for this promotion include the necessary data to qualify new leads for that scheme? It would be a shame if not, and I would encourage future promotions to do this, to provide genuine benefit to existing players.

This contest and the buddy programme aren't connected, no. But there is nothing stopping anyone from using Twitter/Facebook/etc. to try to get people to sign up using their referral code. It's really an entirely separate thing and really up to the individual what they want to do with relation to that.

I made a petition about this which is still yet to be answered.  I am experiencing RL traumatic panic attacks and such in deciding whether I want to disband the 35 Elite praetorians and 35 scribes.  It would be much easier if the devs did the act for me, and even better: take the prize away from those in my shoes who are having no such qualms about accepting something they did not earn.
...and miles to go before I sleep.
