Hello ! Smile

Now that I am officially flattened and will take quite a while to actually build any troops worth mentioning I thought I'd make this topic for three reasons :

  • I think that it will be an interesting read, especially for new/newish players and it might provide some incentive for them to build more troops and try that aspect of the game as well
  • I will use this topic for future reference for a "How to defend" guide that I plan on writing after the war.
  • I want to prevent people saying in GC for my towns, the same thing they said for other players. Meaning that they were "empty" and "undefended" and "noone tried to save them" and other totally unbased things. Indeed my last cities went down without a fight, but not for lack of trying, but the inevitable lack of any more troops which any one player is bound to face when his against whole alliances. Reasons 1 and 3 are what place the topic in this particular forum category btw. Smile

So, what IS the topic about .?. It is the full sum record of my forces along with the casualties inflicted, separated by race, cost, XP/upkeep along with some example battle reports to provide more detailed information and reference for the future guide. Let us begin then Smile

First of all the sum total of my forces used in the last war. The track record is as follows :
T1 Spears                    0
T2 Spears                    350649
T1 Infantry                   0

T1 Bows                       0
T2 Bows                       2393
T1 Cavalry                    0

SUM                              562.501 troops worth aprox. 1.834.191.860 gold and of a total of 1.512.405 XP

What armies I took down with those forces. The troops are in a divided list for each race.

Estimated Gold cost (2300 per unit):                  267000100
Estimated XP worth (2 per unit)                          310874

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\\ FINAL SUMS //~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lost                 562.501 troops          worth 1.834.191.860 gold             worth 1.512.405 XP
Took down      865.609 troops          worth 2.677.831.680 gold            worth  2.391.169 XP
Difference       303.108 troops          worth    843.639.820 gold                 worth 878764 XP
Ratio                   1.538                                             1.459                                      1.581
I finished the war in a decent 45th place in defense server rankings and a mediocre 112 place in attack, so it is quite obvious that all the above figures where generated mainly in defense of my cities, which will be the topic of the future guide as well. Big smile
Thank you for reading this
and I hope that you found it an interesting topic. Smile I will be posting example battle reports later in the day and, of course, I can/will provide additional information to whomever has a question over the whole issue.
Found the first bunch of reports. This will be the T2 Spear examples reports reference post and it will be updated to contain only such reports.  (the names of the players will be editted out, we do not want fights in here)
Two opposing forces clash against each other.
Cavalry comes into its own when able to strike hostile forces at will, and from unexpected directions - and nowhere is this more feasible than on open plains. Lightly armoured spear units, however, prefer terrain where there's some cover available.
Fighting defensively on open plains, cavalry draws strength from the ability to form and reform their lines of engagement depending on the direction of battle, and it is here where cavalry excels.
As I explain in the beginning, for all practical reasons I will not have any troops worth mentioning for the months to come, so practically for me it is over ... I am still in it, but I do not expect my one exodused city that will survive, to produce anything to change that score or the data I shared in any meaningful way.
Indeed it was. Smile
I shall explain the details in the guide topic (costs, figures, worth and in which cases) though. This will be used just for reference and to keep the guide topic uncluttered from battle reports and many tables of figures.
