I think it would be fun if you could have dual citizenship in two alliances at once.

For players in older alliances, they might feel too loyal to leave but still want to help out people in a smaller or training alliance. Since we are only allowed one alt, we can't simply make a new account and send it on its way.

So.. we should have dual citizenship! Perhaps make it cost prestige so that people wouldn't switch too lightly. In terms of alliance ranks, there are lots of interesting options such as

a) Have a 'primary' citizenship which counts your cities in its total.

b) Split cities/population/land half in each alliance

c) (Extra Fun Option) Choose which of your cities are in which of the two alliances.

Since we have the nice AC/GC tab area, one could easily imagine adding a second AC tab.
This could of course be restricted to NAP or confed alliance pairs. Or perhaps the second citizenship would have to be approved by the leaders of both alliances.

Alternate Idea:   Alliance Visitors

Lately there have been a few people going from alliance to alliance visiting as many as they can.   More commonly, anyone graduating from a training alliance might be interested in several alliances and wish they could visit before choosing.

So... why not make visitor status official!

Suppose you make a special diplomat unit (think in terms of traders) which could be sent (with permission) to an alliance capital. Once it is there you suddenly have access to AC of that alliance and perhaps also parts of the alliance forum marked for visitors to be able to see.

This would mainly be for chatting and getting a sense of an alliance or helping out people in a friend's alliance. If we wanted to make the idea a little more game-ish rather than social networking, perhaps visitors could bring a trader along which could then go to a trade hub as if it came from the alliance being visited. The visitor could pay the alliance a tax for the privilege.
