That was an interesting review. How did the record attempt go?

EDIT: I'm not here as a naysayer. It looked kind of interesting. Just curious.

Heyya Daefis,

It went very well!  Unfortunately, we didn't break the record as we simply didn't have enough people concurrently ingame at the same time - but all the technology worked and it was a blast!

If anyone's interested, we're having another public airing of AoA this saturday at 8pm GMT.  Just turn up at the website with a modern web browser and we hope you have fun!

Best,

SC

I will continue to harp on this as I have in the past...
If Illy were made open source, I am sure many of us with programming experience could help out. The hardest part would come first, re-factoring the code. My understanding is that the code was often code-and-fix model, which means it is probably a bit messy. Once refactoring is complete it would be much easier to solve current problems and perhaps make a few new features.

Bug fixes would be the next thing to tackle, and of course the current code team could test any commits before they were made to the main code. Once the code is maintainable (due to re-factoring step) and runs in the expected manner (bug fix step), new features should be much less costly (time/server space) to add. To me, this is beneficial to everyone as more eyes looking at the code can maybe help knock it into shape.

Also, to reply to the OP, I don't think anyone is trying to cheat anyone. I think it can be difficult to estimate the costs of this type of project.

Um. . . no she didn't.  You're funny Corwin.  I feel like you're trying hard to disagree with me or something.

Here's my quote:
"Why not allow me, or you, to advertise a tournament in the Herald so it's easy for people to see that its happening?  Why not give me, or you, a venue to post statistics on who's winning, etc.?"

KP has it right.  A simple link in the Herald letting people know where they can learn more about an Illy-wide tournament would satisfy part of my request for the developers to do more to support players facilitating the "narrative" on their own.

As for sharing statistics, if it were me organizing the tournament I would probably try to keep track of things in a shared google doc or something.  Maybe I like the simplicity of what Myr is doing with the tournament on the 22nd by using the Attack statistics page.

The fact is that Herald had gotten so old I wouldn't even have lined a bird cage with it.
