You know what? I am sick and tired of the endless stream of misery coming from the players here.
The development team behind Little Illy are taking on the might of Silicon Valley and wanting to compete with the likes of EA sports or the COD franchise... not bad for an organisation that has a company address listed as the shed at the bottom of GM Stormcrow's mum's garden. Good on you guys, I hope it works out well for you. And for all you miserable peons that haven't bought any prestige in this game AND whine about the lack of progress... did it ever cross your mind that if you actually put your hand in your pocket and stopped demanding a free lunch, something could be done to get BL up and running a bit quicker? (Just to be clear, I have no problem with people playing the game for free. You just have no right to complain about anything)

Pay close attention to the features listed in the AoA "in brief" section vs. the "stretch goals" section. Stretch goals being not a part of the initial development budget. Keep in mind a lot of those core features are similar to things that exist already as functional systems in Illy. And some new features like piloting and basic pvp combat for AoA already exist in working playable form as has been shown. And I believe it has been stated online elsewhere before, but if you weren't aware, illy was initially developed on less of a budget than this.
Illy corp is a small team and everyone works remotely (ie no big fancy office eating up development money). And even if we get new hires coming on, I bet we are still a smaller team than any of these million dollar games you are thinking of. Small group = more efficient = money goes further. AoA is an ambitious project, but no it is not a "deliberate attempt to decieve." And anyone who believes that well, that's the reason kickstarter is voluntary I guess? I appreciate that there's gonna be some overlap on these forums right now as we are in the early days, but as a side note I'd eventually prefer questions that are only about AoA to go on the AoA forums. Thanks. Luna |

$150,000 to develop this: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1641287971/age-of-ascent
by early 2015? I'm sorry, this is so unreasonable that I can't understand it outside of a deliberate attempt to deceive. This project will need well over a million dollars to get done. Are there people willing to work on this for free in return for future compensation? If Illyriad Inc. has "free" resources, what are those and what more resources do they seek to get for $150K? If there are free resources, are they the same resources that are supposed to get freed up to work on Illy if they get AoA funded? There is no way you can touch a project of this scope and scale (read the feature list, look at the eye candy) with 150K and an 18 month timeline. It's crazy, it will fail, people will get nothing for their money. Better to buy prestige. At least you get something for your money and ultimately James can use that money to fund anything he wants. Seems like he already has. |
