Yea, I have bought plenty of prestige, and I am sorely disappointed that (I guess due to the inadequacies of the original coding..) many bug fixes have gone unanswered for years now. Basic problems with Sovereignty have existed since I joined the game and still are broken. Whatever happened to counterclaiming SOV ? any of the host of features that were frequently discussed by the devs more than 2 years ago when they FREQUENTLY spent time with us in chat? I remember leaks of graphics for buildings more than 2 years ago that to this day have not materialized. Illy grew stagnant . . . a vast % of the player base already had left before the war ( and no Epi, do not feed me the line that the war has driven all the people away, they were gone or leaving well before... just look at the stats...)
I do not begrudge a company the fruits of their labors, but when a company has a devoted community that still buys prestige (and have bought plenty in the past), there is a certain level of reciprocity to the deal.... we contribute $$ in prestige... something , somewhere should be invested back into the game. The dev's biggest problem is lack of marketing, customer relations, and even fundamental project management. They had great ideas, fashioned an intriguing world that blossomed into a vibrant community, and subsequently has withered on the vine whilst its masters have chased the illusion of BL and AoA . . . my biggest complaint, is the failure to appreciate the potential, or reasonably act to foster its growth . . .

You can run your own tournaments without the developers' input. The first tournament in Illyriad was run by former player Noryasha Grunk of the StA. It was called Armok's Blood Bowl and featured a "Capture the Flag" win-style.

I both agree and disagree with you Ser Anderrent. The other people who play Illyriad is what makes it interesting. The Alliance Chat rooms, and the occasional drama that happen in GC. Illyriad is full of characters. When there is a war or a tournament the chances increase for something relevant to happen to facilitate an "organic narrative". I think we all just need something to talk about or rally around. While I don't feel "fleeced", I have paid more in the last four years toward Illy than I have to any other single game. I could, for example (though I wouldn't expect the same return) buy a game on STEAM and participate in that community's dialogue for a fraction of what 500 prestige points costs. I don't think it is priced unfairly, but I think that we could be getting MORE for the money we are paying without cost or effort from the "software company". I would even pay MORE if I felt there would be a greater return. In that sense, its a very easy thing for developers to provide. . . and, as I've said in other posts, players are capable of providing it at NO cost to the developers. (i.e. Sir Bradly is a constant source of entertainment, and although I am not certain of this, I don't think he's on the payroll.) Just open the game and support players providing their own narrative. Let them write your Herald articles, let them host their own tournaments, let them be the game. |

Illyriad is as great a game as it was an year back. Even if there are no more enhancements to the game, I will continue playing (atleast as long as some of my friends are playing).
The devs never fleeced the players for money. If AoA gives them a better revenue, I am happy for them. |

Personally I think that the Dev's should hire a marketing consultant or something to try and maximise revenue (much as we don't like, money does make the world go round). Personally I'd be in favour of banner adverts for anyone that doesn't have a prestige account, however I am sure that there are many more options.
I'd also be curious as to how much a 2nd server would cost for Elgea. I'd be quite happy replaying this map but with different races, in different areas of the world. Personally I think the biggest problem we have in this game is that too many players have nothing to do |

you payed for the product that was available, not for what it might become in the future. You payed for prestige, and that you got (if you didn't you do have a reason to complain). You can always call them as a investment bussines and offer them money in return for a seat in their company.
I agree that they should have kept their promises, but they apologised. Nothing more they can do about it now I guess. Or do you want a broken lands full of bugs? I'm sure people would complain just as much.

Corwin, it is not normal for a commercial MMO like this one to go a year without any significant updates, community events or fixes. The fact is that many players HAVE paid for this product, about which many promises were made that haven't been delivered. I'm sure the devs still feel strongly about Illy, but they haven't really been showing it for the past year.

Can anyone explain why they think the devs should put more time and effort in this game? I'm only disapointed in the fact they announced broken lands and then didn't fullfill their promise. They apologized for it and admitted they shouldn't have made that promise. So they made a mistake, big deal.
Why can't they start a new project? It's not that illy regresses by it. It just (maybe) stops developping. The game doesn't become anything less then it was and most of us enjoyed it the way it was/is. Thinking that prestige buying is for the development of the game isn't right in my opinion. The devs are no machines where you put in a coin and then do the trick you want them to do. You buy prestige to gain certain benefits for your account. Did anyone ever think of the possibillty that the game might be less fun lately because of ourselves? There used to be cooperation between a lot of alliances, but that got less due to wars and people being mean to/insulting eachother for no other reason then a different opinion on how the game should be played. When you feel something gets less interesting, first look at what you can do about it yourself. Complaining about the devs doesn't make much sense. They offer you a product and in this case you don't even have to pay for it. If you don't want it then don't take it. I never buy hiphop music because it's not my taste, but it wouldn't make sense to ask hiphop artists to make music that I like. I just buy other music I would like to see more tournements, but we probably won't see one soon. Instead of complaining about it we could try to arrange one ourself, as community. It has been done in the past and I'm sure that it could be done again if we can finally agree on the fact that we all want the same thing: a fun game
