Halcyon, I did know what Break Spear Wall is. I'm not clear on why it's on his list for an attacking cavalry commander, with forced march, charge, heroism, and vitality.

I have a few over level 135 on Daene and Daefis but stopped raising them now as the time dead makes it pointless. A couple have a few 100k xp unused but don't know what that would be.

For attackers you really only need lvl 25 or lvl 35 if you want heroism. Defenders, of course, require minimum lvl 55.
After that lvl there is no real need to level up any further.

The maximum level a commander can attain is level 205. (19 skills with 10 levels each, 1 skill with 15)

Nope: maximum level would be 206: 18 skills with 10 levels each, 1 skill with 15 and Vitality with 11.

Commanders start at level zero, not level one. All commanders start out with one Accelerated Healing, however. So the one extra skill point doesn't get accounted for in the commander's level.

Offensive For my offensive commanders I run either Lvl 35 or Lvl 45.10 Heroism, 15 Div Bonus, 10 Forced March and (optional) 10 Defy Death. Defensive This game is heavily stacked towards attackers and defenders get a crappy deal as it is overall much more expensive and difficult to be a defender. As a defender, you have to level up 4 different abilities where as attackers only have the one, and you have to press the prestige button 4 times against the attackers 1. As for commanders, I do not level mine past lvl 125. The above is my oldest commander and is a t1 Cav Commander. You may not be able to see his commander score is 690,383, the below is a newer commander and its score is 612,273.As He-Man is an orc and in the desert, I make t1 spears. Over time, I have started to switch from t1 Cav commanders as the main commanders, I now predominantly use are T1 Bow. Orc spears have poor defense against bows, So, the extra 5% division bonus is really worth it imo and I will take whatever I can to increase my k/d ratio. As for the choosing of commanders it can be personal preference, though there are a few tricks that you can use. Attacking commanders are easy to select, just pick a t2 of whatever unit you are primarily focussed on. For defending, one way to look at it is to select a type of commander based on what you will more than likely be facing (its a guess some of the time). For spears, I normally use T1 Bows regardless as spears are pretty woeful with defending against bowmen. As for the other type of units. Another thing you can look at doing is to train a few other commanders and leave them at level 0 and retire them for a bit. So if your main commanders die, you have one in reserve that only needs an hour to wake up and is ready to level up and march. I would look at commander XP rather than what level the commander is on. As previously stated, levels can only go so high where as XP points can continue infinitum. ' The best ratio's I have achieved were 2.5 Kobolds to 1 Knight and 3-3.5 kobolds to 1 Trueshot. |
