Anyone who thinks they don't have a chance doesn't understand how this is going to work. Playing smart, it would be trivial to beat an army 5, even 10 times your size, because there will be so many other players who are trying to do the same thing.
The big players will probably destroy each others armies fairly quickly - it may not start as a level playing field, but it will quickly become one. Sure, they'll have an advantage - but you'll get valuable experience and get to have some fun, and you've actually got a reasonable chance at winning - In many ways, it is more a contest of persistance, cooperation (among attacks from those players weaker than someone currently holding the hill), cleverness, and vigiliance than it is of pure military might (though pure military might will certainly help).
Most importantly, you'll be providing us with valuable information regarding future tournaments, and there WILL be more tournaments. I will run one in each quadrant, each with a slightly different set up. |
Nicely said ! Thats the idea behind it.. Yes ofrouce bigger players have the advantage. But most of you also know the story about david and goliath right? If your not big and strong -> be smart. You can always make your position in this tournament better. It just needs a bit more timming, watching other players armies depart from their towns etc. (yes if you really want to play it to win you have to be active searching for holes to dodge the larger armies and place yourself on top)

Maybe
add troop count limits, e.g. you can only spend troops worth X upkeep
during the tourney. Also helps stop people destroying their entire
army.

spending troops worth X upkeep wouldn't really work I guess as this still is a 'beta-version' on the tournaments that will be hold on the future. And a X upkeep will he really hard to keep a eye on for every player.

KillerPoodle, you're free to purposely and
publically handicap yourself if you want. Maybe limit it to two cities
or something. I think people would trust you on it. Material support
from your other cities is fine as well, since everyone else
participating will probably have backers and sponsors (I know some
alliances have mentioned it).

I agree, KP could handicap himself on this tourney. Maybe add a low lvl commander instead of the high lvls wich makes it all about the army itself. And having big experienced players in this tournament will only be of big help in the future tournaments as they can easy see where things are going wrong etc.

I ABSOLUTELY love it!!!
I'm donating 120k each of Stone, Iron, Clay, and Wood to the winner (or however the organizers want to break it down into winner, 2nd, and 3rd places).
I do think you should have good prizes for 2nd and third places, as these folks fought hard and should be compensated...
We'll have to organize our own H? cheerleading squad... Llyorn? Where are you? ;)
Needless to say, as everyone's seen above with all the other alliances, we also will support whatever punishment the organizers feel is appropriate towards spoilers of this event...
(or we might get a tiny bit more medieval on their rear ends...)

I hereby confirm my participation in this here Tournament as reprisentative of The DwarvernLordsAlliance.
I would also like to confirm that i also will be limiting my armed forces taking part in this excersize to 2 cities only, both of which have somewhat inexperienced commanders in charge. (this'll be a good way for them to level up concidrably.
