Topic: Battle Royale Summer 2012 Posted: 10 Jun 2012 at 04:22 |
Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls. I present to you the Spectacle of Spectacles, the Showdown of Showdowns the first ever Battle Royale. 40 contestants 1 city each in a fight to the pain. I propose to you a chance to see how BAD you are. The rules are simple, 1. Exodus a city to the desert 2. Be the last man standing If you lose your city, you are out. If you exodus your city out of the desert, you are out. I will be working with various alliances to ensure there isnt anything shipped in from the outside as all cities will be blockaded. This is a PvP challenge to see who is the best tactition in a relatively even and fair fight. Who amoungst you is brave enough to face a challenge such as this? Who amoungst you is the superior military strategist. The contest will start towards the end of the month(June), I will mail all contestants with an exact date to arrive in the "Arena" post your intentions to fight here, or igm me Nows your chance all you warrior poets to put up or shut up Cheers, Zork2012

awesome idea!
But i believe blockades cannot stop army and diplo reinforcements? So more direct help could come. You could expect thousands of spies, scouts and assassins reinforcing along with armies.

I like the idea. Well done. Lets consider that there is more than one desert and this will eventually cause combatants to move across continent to fight the dominant one in the desert across from them.
I am just curious, what will qualify a combatant's city as being in the desert?
There are already many cities bordering deserts. None that I have seen are actually "on" a desert tile.
Cheers

I like the idea, and I am more than happy to do it- but, I recommend some sort of minimum population on the city so that a bunch of newbs don't decide to do this and get slaughtered by everyone else. Also, I recommend that everyone entering donates a certain amount of gold to the 'pot'- winner takes all?

Rule #3. get caught with a non contestant army reinforcing you and youre out Rule #4. all contestant city and sov must be on a desrt tile or youre out I was thinking of having a 1 mil gold registration fee and a 75% 25% split with the final 2 combatants, but I am open to a winner take all. the registration fe should limit the contestants but if a noob wants to actually move thier city with tendrils spell - idiotic idea imho - oh well

You cannot teleport to those 0 food 'desert' tiles as such, you could teleport to oasis/wadi tiles in desert biome though. Such areas are plenty
maybe you could designate an area and assign the oasis tiles to contestants, thus also avoiding multiple cities targeting the same tile to exodus.

Once a city is in Exodus to a tile, another city cannot Exodus to the same tile. Another city CAN exodus to an adjacent tile. Don't those oasis tiles have only 2 iron and stone squares? Keep in mind that Exodused cities pick up the resource plot configuration of the squares on which they're built. People will have to ship in pretty much all their iron and stone. Will make blockade extremely effective, I suppose.

If everyone has the same limitations then I guess it is easier to just make it part of the challenge.
Although probably won't be trying to join in myself - I understand the idea of moving to the desert and setting up blockades is to attempt to put all the contestants on an even playing-field but really there is no way to limit the amount of resource/troops people take with them and whoever moves the most will effectively be the winner.
