This is an older comment, but it remains a relevant observation. Perhaps if we were allowed to burn down our own towns (under specific conditions) it would encourage the capture and subsequent removal of dead accounts.

If razing would have given the attacker all the gold and advanced resources in the city, many more cities would have been razed and a lot more space would have become a lot more evident. Even as things stand, finding good locations for new cities is not that hard, especially when you consider the ability to terraform. BL simply can't be justified by a need for more space.
I believe that this game will die if the release of BL will not include also at least live factions, or new magic system (and hopefully much more) in BOTH servers/continents.

Speculation. It might or might not have been answered in a FAQ or QA.
When BL finally opens up in Christmas of 2015, then we will know.
