   Hi everyone. After returning to the game following an over 10 year hiatus I have returned to play and set up a new alliance. The alliance has a basis around an original democratic model based in the real world in Iceland. Have a read below and see what you think. Following the Consone War Jasche disappeared from Illyriad, heading out to the west where he came upon other civilisations, educating himself in the ways of others. From mountains to deserts, coasts to forests he spent time with people living with the land or imposing their humanness onto their surroundings. His journal and lute were constant companions on his travels.

Jasche Travelling

The greatest learning came from a group of chieftains and free people who had started the seeds of democracy in a remote northern province where equality and even handedness were staples of the culture. They would meet annually at the great divide between lands to set laws, hear justice and strengthen bonds.

The Meeting Point

Many years after Jasche had started travelling he received a messenger arrived from the lands of Illyriad. A suggestion to return to his former lands and try once again to settle. With his new found knowledge he returned creating The Althing - an outdoor assembly held in Thingvellir and based on the oldest parliaments ever created. All free people attend the assemblies, which are usually the main social event of the year and draw large crowds of farmers and their families, parties involved in legal disputes, traders, craftsmen, storytellers, and travellers. Those attending the assembly live in temporary camps during the session. The centre of the gathering is the Lögberg, or Law Rock, a rocky outcrop on which the Lawspeaker takes his seat as the presiding official of the assembly. Responsibilities include reciting aloud the laws in effect at the time and proclaiming the procedural law of the Althing to those attending the assembly each year.

As an alliance the Althing states:
“The Welfare of the People is the Highest Law”

To that end our alliance is:
Committed to Peace
Focusses on Tournaments, Trade, Crafting and Factions
Prepared to defend the innocent, vulnerable and our allies

In order to ensure this the alliance upholds the values of:
Integrity – We are honest, do the right thing and have each other’s back.
Industry – We work hard for each other and our allies.
Inclusion – We enable everyone to have a voice and work as a collective.

We consider the 10 square radius around our towns ours. Do not hunt or harvest within that area or on our sov. If you wish to move within 10 squares of our towns contact us first.

	Yes, sadly, only characters with ascii equivalents can be used so that player names, town names, etc. can be searchable. This is why §ilent §word was forced to become Silent Sword.
