Did you move the thread? it is (I thought I did post it) in the suggestions forum. Apologies if it ain't so.
At any rate..
The posting title you possess implies an official position, but I'm currently under the impression the position is not official and thus challengable, so i'll reply ;)
In my opinion:
If IG so desire i'm sure they could find a non-interactive package that requires no information exchange whatsoever.
Sure, some of said operations are a long way from ethical, but imo it's about time ppl started letting govt make legislation rather than whining in their hundreds of millions about whatever the axis of wikiboogle tell them to.
It is a revenue stream, making money is not unethical. It's never the wrong time to make money. It can be the wrong way, fine.
Illyriad is 'affiliated' with Facebook & Google. I fail to see this as an ethically high standard. The two largest breakers of (at very least spirit of) IP law in the world. Two companies that make billions out of users, rarely providing your average joe with any real idea of what information they're selling and for how much. If it's worth billions, ain't it funny that users never see any of that money?
ANY website can implement a system by which 'artificial' keywords are offered more weight than they reasonably deserve (or indeed call more hits) yet it doesn't matter as much as it might, ranking by keyword 'hits' alone died more than a decade ago.
*People who do not wish to partake do not have to.
