Just thought of a exploit/detail that might need a lot of programming to safeguard: It would be possible to set up a new alliance, and declare a trade hub - that's FAR too easy. Maybe the alliance needs to exceed a nominal (1 million?) population count for the Hub to remain operational?

I think I'm going to agree on Factions remaining autonomous. Players already have the ability to control a lot on the map or in the game if you prefer. So I support parts of the game remaining autonomous. However, I like the idea of Alliance capitals as hubs!

We're getting ahead of ourselves now. First we need live factions. Smile

@DD89. I'm liking the sound of it, but I'd like Factions to remain autonomous despite this. Not sure how we could think around that problem. Perhaps factions would then become nomadic (having lost their home) or occupy temporary camps/strongholds (without a Trade Hub) where they could recuperate and try to take their Hub back with the help of allied factions and alliances?

Mechanics would be if your army is occupying the hub you control it.  As for the benefits it would be you either get the tax or a tax percentage.

Not sure how this would effect the faction standing but from what i can tell you can't affect them yet anyways.

Edit.  For the cost you have to maintain control, predictably someone will try and attack you to gain control of the hub.  For the moment i would have the gold go to the alliance similar to how taxes from players is done now.

As certain hubs would be very valuable IE centrum.  and other hubs would be less valuable this would allow smaller alliances a chance to take part in the action as well.

Interesting; like subjugation. What would you foresee as the mechanic for 'control', and what are the benefits and costs of maintaining control?

I like the idea, it's worth exploring and discussing it...
