i see, i didn't realize you were talking of added functionality. yes i would agree that a cancel should cost resources/time spent, but honestly i don't believe there is a true need for cancel as it is effectively the same as the auto completed for 3 rp (without the loss of resources).

I want to start by saying how much i respect you LadyLuvs. this post has shown me that i should clarify i am talking about the queue for constructing buildings; not resources. your post is a little off topic, however i believe Adv resource management is important and valid in its own right (maybe even more than mine) further more i second your suggestion.

What I would like to see regarding Advance Resources Production, is in the Production Summary, if you could just cue the advanced resources from that screen without having to click the name and go into that production cue for that certain resource.  Just have one screen that you can cue up all your advanced resources, rather than 12 individual screens.  Cuing up would be a whole lot faster.

i guess i was thinking of people who have to work or leave Illy for a longer period of time. this would allow them to keep a long building time building going in the background and when they could play they could queue up shorter build buildings in front. the only real cost involved is having to wait (even longer) for the longer building queue to be finished. i am not sure how this system if imposed could be abused.

With the discussed exception for two levels of the same building your idea could be implemented as special case of a new option to cancel the active build or demolition.  The price for that could be the loss of already spent building or demolishing time.  Likewise they could permit to cancel the active research.  

IOW, if you cancel soon you lose seconds or minutes, if you cancel late you lose hours or days.  And if your queue is building A followed by B, and you want B before A, then you would cancel A to start B, and queue A again, now after B.  

Update: As protection against abuse the invested resources or RP in a cancelled build or research should be also lost, not only the time.  But that does not more match your cheap swap idea, sorry.

well purchasing anything with prestige requires an active prestige account which is 5 prestige per week. that in combination with the fact that auto completing all buildings in a cities queue is 3 prestige charging even 1 prestige seems excessive. i realize you don't maintain an active prestige account rill. perhaps this feature could be added as a prestige account perk.

obviously checks would need to be put in place to avoid such occurrences. however i think by the simple nature of having such options available players would indirectly see value in upgrading divers buildings rather than one in order.

I think in the case of the same structure, a conditional check could be made.  A conditional check shouldn't be difficult at all...

If it were to be done, I think it would make sense to have it use prestige but use less prestige, like 1 instead of 3.  However, many times I build two levels of a building in sequence, and I'm not sure how this would work.  Do you get the benefits of the top level while the previous level is still building?

i thought it would be nice to be able to bump the lower item in the building queue to the active slot. obviously this would need to be something that doesn't use prestige because you could use prestige to instantly complete a building. is this something others would like
