Before you guys get way off topic, I would like to direct everyone to the first 3-4 posts on this forum and ask that you comment on those or add more ideas. Thanks.

Thanks I am very new here, 4 days, no wait maybe 5 now. I just picked population since it would be the easiest for the developers to measure. Maybe number of towns instead?? If you have a mini tournament then that would have to be ongoing or weekly. At least in my opinion. Otherwise what would be the point if it was fixed in time. There needs to be an active component here that is easy for both players and developers to match the rewards and consequences for owning and losing control of a region. Hopefully since this topic is winning by a huge margin in the poll ongoing that more discussion will continue here. |

It's an interesting idea, but population is a poor mechanic. I'd rather see a mini-tournament of some kind. Perhaps it could be tied to factions. The alliance they favor most could gain a bonus in lands that faction controls (or within a certain radius of their hubs). Or perhaps the factions could provide them with military support if they are attacked, or invite them on missions against other factions. Which is to say, I wish they'd just implement the faction AI already. =( |

It would certainly be a major change. And it would suddenly penalize alliances that had previously lived happily distributed across the map.

People don't do it because the game doesn't incentivise it. If the game gives players a good reason to fight over control of regions, they will.

Not sure about this. From my understanding an alliance will go to an area as a group and say this part of the map is ours. They say they control it but they don't really or there is no plus or minus for them. If I read the forum post correctly people want there to be some game mechanic where there are actual benefits and or consequences when an alliance "owns" a part of the map. There is nothing today that keeps players from burning down half of each others towns in a year with current in game mechanics. The community as it stands now from what I have seen is what prevents that not the game itself. |
