I think it's an interesting idea ... however, my guess is that most players are more interested in things like factions going live and pathfinding. Perhaps it's an idea whose time has not yet come? Great to put it in the suggestions folder, I'm sure the devs have a "tickler" file.

Its all about presentation to whether an idea gets a good response or not, think it out and give an idea as to how it would work and give us something we can read over and say what we do or don't agree with. If you just say "hey lets combine cities" we have to consider all the angles and such and that's annoying, but if you lay out a decent design considering several of the problems that make arise and explain in some detail what you think the pros/cons would be people can nitpick over that info << this doesn't always work as some ideas really are not popular but it gives you a better chance. As for the combining cities, dont piss anyone off cause 1 seige could wipe out 4 cities at once, instead of the weeks it could at present The walls should lose defensive strength, thats a long stretch and has the possibilities of more weak points, was built by the cheapest bidder , and the combine strength of 4 cities is a powerful thing.

Very glad to see that Illy's players are high in the modesty department.

I don't seek to totally invalidate your idea, Yso Sris; I do want to apologize for leaving that impression. Torn Sky makes the very good point, however, that presentation is everything. I wasn't there to see you pitch your idea, so I can't speak to how it all went down, but it seems I'm not only one who's getting a condescending vibe from your words.
I guess what I'm trying to get across here is this: Your *idea* is potentially a good one, albeit perhaps a little before its time. The *presentation* of your idea -- at least in this thread -- seems somewhat less than humble, which I believe is what has turned some people off. Instead of opening yourself up to discussion, your initial attitude seemed to indicate to others, "This is an awesome idea, and if you don't get it, you're not smart enough to understand."
I suggest that you keep this idea filed away in the suggestions forum until its time comes because, as I said before, it has potential. Just try to keep socialization a bit more on everyone else's level instead of taking the dominant approach.

Im not condescending, I'm Molgzonor, the Rodney Dangerfield of Illyriad. I get no respect I tell you.
I will try to pitch my next truly awesome before-it's-time expansion worthy idea in a more humble manner.

Might be a "frikking" awesome idea to you, however when people say "I don't get it" it most probably has little to do with their brainpower but more to do with the fact that they mean they don't see what's so special about it, not that they don't understand your idea. I think the adjective "freaking" is appropriate but the awesome part is maybe a tad bit above the lines.
