You're making us look like swearing hooligans.... We probably wouldn't be BANNED, just silenced on some occasions.

Hi all, A few general pointers. - Yes, when GMs aren't in chat this means we're developing new features and content for the game, and that's generally a better use of our time. Sometimes we're sleeping, but that's quite rare

- We think the combination of the profanity filter, but especially the "Block in Chat" option gives players control over who they choose to see in Global Chat, and this should be used more often than it is by players who are offended by other players; however, we also understand that there's a general point of "new players coming into global chat and seeing things that aren't a great advertisment for the game" and this is really where moderators should step in if they're around.
- We probably don't have enough Global Chat Moderators, and this will be something we will address in the future.
- We won't be moderating alliance chat.
We believe Alliance chat is for alliances themselves to moderate, and if you dislike a player's comments in your alliance chat that much then either you are in the wrong alliance and should leave, or the other player is in the wrong alliance, and should be kicked out. Either way, it's for the Alliance to work out internally.
Having said all of that, Petitions to the GMs for egregious breaches of the rules regarding discrimination on the grounds of race, sexuality, gender, politics or religion will be investigated - regardless of whether they originate in Global Chat, ingame mail, a forum post - or indeed Alliance Chat. Regards, SC

No, I disagree there. That's one f the best features of Illy- it's community, and that includes the GMs.

Some of the GM's and also Moderator's have allowed themselves to become to informal and relaxed in their interaction with players.
I believe that the GM/player relationship should be confined to petitions and the forum.
I also feel that there is an increasing need for Mods to focus on what is and is not permissable behaviour in Alliance and Global Chats.

With the new 'Ban in chat' addition and if it comes to a choice: GM's moderating or developing then I err to developing. If its a simple case of an additional Mod at no detriment to development? Then of course.
